Handling

Handle your Nest Mini with care. You may damage the device if you disassemble, drop, bend, burn, crush or puncture it. Do not use a Nest Mini with a damaged enclosure. Using a damaged product may cause injury. Do not expose your Nest Mini to liquids, which can cause a short circuit and overheating. If your Nest Mini gets wet, do not attempt to dry it using an external heat source. Nest Mini is designed to operate in a dry, indoor environment.

Your Nest Mini is designed to work in ambient temperatures between 0° and 35°C (32° to 95°F), and should be stored between ambient temperatures of -20° and 60°C (-4° and 140°F). Do not leave your Nest Mini in places where the temperature may exceed 60°C (140°F), such as on a car dashboard or near a heating vent as this may damage the product or pose a potential risk of fire. Keep your product away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight. If your device becomes too hot, disconnect it from its power source if it is plugged in, move it to a cooler place and do not use it until it has cooled. Your Nest Mini is designed to work at an altitude of up to 2,000 m (6,560 ft).

Repair & service

Do not attempt to repair your Nest Mini yourself. Disassembling the device may cause injury to you or damage your device.

Unauthorised repairs or modifications could result in permanent damage to the device and may affect your warranty coverage and regulatory authorisations.

Contact customer service and do not use your device if it isn’t working properly or has been damaged. For online help and support, visit https://g.co/nest/help. To contact an expert, visit https://g.co/nest/contact.

Powering your device

Make sure that the power adaptor and Nest Mini are well ventilated when in use. Using a damaged cable or power adaptor can cause fire, electric shock, injury or damage to your Nest Mini or other property. When powering the product, make sure that the power adaptor is plugged into a socket near the product and is easily accessible. Avoid powering the device in direct sunlight. This device is intended for use with a certified limited power source (LPS) per IEC 60950-1 and/or classified PS2 per IEC 62368-1 rated: 14 Volts DC, maximum 1.1 Amp.

When disconnecting the power adaptor from a power socket, pull on the adaptor, never the cable. Do not twist or pinch the cable, and do not force a connector into a port.

Wall-mounting

Your Nest Mini can be wall-mounted. See https://g.co/mini/wallmount for additional wall-mount instructions.

Prolonged heat exposure

Nest Mini generates heat during normal operation and complies with applicable surface temperature standards and limits. Avoid prolonged, direct or indirect skin contact when the device is in use, because exposing skin to hot surfaces for a long period of time may cause discomfort or burns.

Disposal, transportation and recycling

Dispose of and transport your device and accessories according to local environmental and transportation regulations. Do not improperly transport them or dispose of them in normal household waste. Improper disposal or transport may lead to fire, explosion and/or other hazards. For more information on recycling your device, batteries and accessories, visit g.co/HWRecyclingProgram.

Environmental restrictions

To prevent damage to your Nest Mini or internal circuits, do not use or store the device or its accessories in dusty, smoky, damp or dirty environments, or near magnetic fields. Keep it away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight. Do not leave your device inside a vehicle or in places where the temperature may exceed 60°C (140°F), such as on a window sill, near a heating vent or behind glass that is exposed to direct sunlight or strong ultraviolet light for extended periods of time. This may damage the Nest Mini or pose a risk of fire or explosion.

Explosive atmospheres

Do not use, store or transport your Nest Mini where flammables or explosives are stored (in petrol stations, fuel depots or chemical plants, for example). Do not use your wireless device where blasting operations are in progress, or in potentially explosive atmospheres such as in areas where the air contains high levels of flammable chemicals, vapours or particles (such as grain, dust or metal powders). Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire, resulting in bodily injury or even death. Observe all notices and signs where these hazards might exist.

Radio frequency interference

Observe rules that prohibit the use of wireless technology (e.g. Wi-Fi). Your device is designed to comply with regulations governing radio frequency emissions, but use of wireless devices can negatively affect other electronic equipment.

Your device uses radios and other components that emit electromagnetic fields and also contains magnets near the speaker. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices. Always keep the product and its power adaptor at a safe distance away from the pacemaker or other implanted medical device. If you have questions about using your Google device with or near your pacemaker or other implanted medical device, consult your healthcare provider before using your product. If you suspect your product is interfering with your pacemaker or other implanted medical devices, turn off your Google device and consult your doctor for information specific to your medical device.

Child safety

This device is not a toy. Your product may contain (or may come with) small parts, plastic elements and parts with sharp edges that may cause an injury or create a choking hazard. Children have strangled on cords and cables. Keep Nest Mini’s cable out of the reach of children (more than 1 metre/3 feet away) and do not allow them to play with Nest Mini and its accessories. They could hurt themselves or others or could accidentally damage the product. Consult a doctor immediately if small parts are swallowed.

Emergency communications

This device operates using radio signals and may not establish or maintain a connection in all conditions. Wireless devices may not be reliable for emergency communications. While some jurisdictions transmit emergency information over wireless networks, your device may not always receive these communications depending upon network connectivity or other factors.

Radio frequency exposure

This equipment complies with radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. In order to avoid the possibility of exceeding the radio frequency exposure limits, human proximity to the antenna should not be less than 20 cm (8 in) during normal operation.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires that all Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), including your device and its accessories, must be marked with the symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol means that the equipment must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste. Disposing of WEEE together with normal waste may pose a risk to the environment and to human health, due to certain substances used in EEE.

Under the WEEE Directive, each EU Member State is responsible for achieving a high level of collection of WEEE for treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal. Before tossing your device, think a minute about how to reduce the amount of WEEE you create. You could, for example, reuse it, recover it, or turn it into artwork. By simply extending the life of your device, you will have reduced waste and helped the EU achieve its objectives.

The success of this EU policy will depend on your active contribution in returning your WEEE to the appropriate facilities dedicated to the disposal of such waste. You should contact your local authority or your retailer for details about the return and collection points available.
