Concerned about the pixel 5 gap issue

I have my heart set in the pixel 5. But am concerned about the many problems people are describing with the glass gap peeling off issue. Is this somthing that will be fixed with newer production models, and if I buy the phone and this happens will google cover the problem for me?

Hi Pixel Community,
We’ve had a chance to investigate units from customers and, combined with our quality control data from the factory, we can confirm that the variation in the clearance between the body and the display is a normal part of the design of your Pixel 5. There is no effect on the water and dust resistance or functionality of your phone. We will work with customers on an individual basis to address any concerns they may have.

On another thread, they say it's the waterproofing rubber, you could warm it up with a hair blower and push the screen in the body a bit more.

Got mine today and got a gap on the bottom of the device i can run my finger nail in. No gaping anywhere else. No gaps whatsoever on my pixel 3xl, defo not designed that way, manufacturing error/poor build quality.

Google service seem to think it's acceptable to dismiss the issue by saying it's part of the design, if it was part of the design why is that people are reporting differences in where they appear. A friend's pixel 5 doesn't have any gaps.
