Google Pixel 3 Android 9 Mobile network > Advanced > Add Carrier for eSIM missing/not available

I attempted to find a solution by referring to this thread. I posted there hoping the original poster LLAB will share more details but it has been some time. Hence I'm posting a new post.

I recently purchased a Google Pixel 3 and it was pre-installed with Android 9. It has been updated to the latest Android 9 updated security patch level: 5 April 2019

The following related apps;
Carrier Services version: 22.0.243910317-carrierservices_V22F_RC12
eSIM Manager version: D.1.5.24-google (5445861)

The issue I am having is the "Carrier" option/feature is MISSING / NOT AVAILABLE (step 5 below) when I am attempting to scan QR code or manual enter the activation code for Google Pixel 3 :
  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Go to “Network & internet”
  3. Go to “Mobile network”
  4. Select “Advanced”
  5. Select “Carrier”
  6. Select “Add carrier”
  7. Scan the QR code or manual enter the activation code, the eSIM profile will be downloaded

I hope someone can help

I have same issue as Asnet.
On Q Beta 5, I have no option for selecting Carrier even Developer Mode was enable.
Searching in setting with "carrier" keyword, after select from result list, nothing happen.

Hi Salim,

Were you ever able to find out why Australian SKU Pixel 3s are not e-sim compatible?  The 3a and the 4 are compatible in Australia.  Surely, Google certainly didn't decide to make a model with an e-sim chip and one without it.  In fact the model number of the Australian version is identical to the US version.

Hi,
I'm not from Australia.
I have Pixel 3XL. I'm trying to install the e-sim by scanning the QR code.
I enabled development mode. However, after clicking settings/network & internet/mobile network/advanced, I don't see "carrier" or "operator" options.

Instead I see:
"Automatically select network" (currently turned on).
"Choose network" (currently disabled).

When I turn off ""Automatically select network" I can click on "Choose network", and there I can just choose a different network, there is no option to add a new carrier.
