The new Google Assistant is built into your phone and apps, making it easier to complete tasks. You can text, call, get answers, look up directions and do more with just your voice.

To use the new Google Assistant, you need a Pixel 4 and later, including Fold, with:

  • The Google app with version 10.73 and up.
  • Google Play services.
  • The Assistant language set to: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Korean, Malayalam, Marathi, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese. More languages are coming soon.

Complete tasks without "Hey, Google"

Assistant can perform specific tasks without the voice prompt, "Hey, Google". For example, to snooze an alarm, you can say "Snooze", or to decline a call hands-free, you can say "Decline".

Important: This feature is only available:

  • In English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. More languages are coming soon.
  • On Pixel Buds Pro, Pixel 6 and later, including Fold, when you have one language selected.

Learn how to change your Google Assistant language.

  1. On your Pixel, say "Hey Google, open Assistant settings".
  2. Tap Quick phrases.
  3. On the right, tap the slider to turn each quick-phrase scenario on or off.

If you turn on quick phrases for incoming calls, calls might sometimes connect unintentionally. For example:

  • If you say "answer" when you're not aware that your phone is ringing, or if it's on silent
  • If other voices say "answer"
  • If Google Assistant detects something that sounds similar to "answer"
