Languages you can use

 

On Android phones and tablets, the Google Assistant is available in Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese. More languages are coming soon. 

Set your language

When you change the language you use to talk with your Google Assistant, you change the language across your device.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, touch and hold the Home button or say "OK Google."
  2. In the bottom right, tap Explore & Your stuff.
  3. In the top right, tap your profile picture or initial and then Settings.
  4. Tap Assistant and then Languages. 
  5. Tap Add a language, and then choose a language. You can choose one or two languages.
    • Say “OK, Google” in the first language you chose.
    • Talk to your Assistant in either language, but not a mix of both.
Google Assistant on speaker or Smart Display

Languages you can use 

On speakers, the Google Assistant is available in Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Spanish, and Swedish. More languages are coming soon.

Note: On Smart Displays, the Google Assistant is available in English, French, French (Canada), and German.

Step 1: Change your mobile device's language

  1. On your Android phone or tablet open the Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap System and then Languages & input.
  3. Choose a language that works with the Google Assistant.

Step 2: Change your Google Assistant language

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the bottom, tap Account  and then Settings .
    • If you don’t see this option, you might not be signed in to the account linked to your Assistant. To switch accounts, tap the down arrow next to your account name and then choose an account.
  3. Tap Assistant and then Languages.
  4. Tap Add a language, then choose a language. You can choose one or two languages.
    • Say “OK, Google” in the first language you chose.
    • Talk to your Assistant in either language, but not a mix of both.

On headphones, the Google Assistant is available in the languages available on your phone.

Set your language

  3. Tap Preferences and then Assistant language.
  4. Tap Add a language, then choose a language. You can choose one or two languages.
    • Say "OK, Google" in the first language you chose.
    • Talk to your Assistant in either language, but not a mix of both.

Google Assistant on TV

On Android TVs, the Google Assistant is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian), and Spanish. More languages are coming soon.On TVs that don't run the Android TV operating system, the Google Assistant is available in English, French, German, Korean, and Spanish.
