Languages you can use


On Android phones and tablets, the Google Assistant is available in English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, and Thai. More languages are coming soon. 

Set your language

When you change the language you use to talk with your Google Assistant, you change the language across your device.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, touch and hold the Home button or say "Ok Google."
  2. At the top right, tap Explore & Your stuff and then More More and then Settings. 
  3. Under "Devices," select your phone or tablet.
  4. Tap Assistant language and then Go to language preferences.
  5. Tap Add language, then choose a language.
  6. Next to the language you added, touch and hold Reorder Reorder.
  7. Drag the language to the top of the list.
Google Assistant on speaker or Smart Display

Languages you can use 

On speakers, the Google Assistant is available in English, French, German, Italian, and Japanese. More languages are coming soon.

Step 1: Change your mobile device's language

  1. On your phone or tablet, open the Settings app Settings.
  2. Tap General management and then Language & input.
  3. Choose a language that works with the Google Assistant.

Step 2: Change your Google Assistant language

  1. On your phone, open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the top left of the Home screen, tap Menu Menu.
  3. Tap More settings.
    • If you don’t see this option, you might not be signed in to the account linked to your Assistant. To switch accounts, tap the down arrow next to your account name and then choose an account.
  4. ​Under "Devices," tap a device.
  5. Tap Assistant language and then choose a language. 

Google Assistant on TV

For now, the Google Assistant is available in English on TV. More languages are coming soon.
