Uploaded Video is Mirror Image

I have been uploading videos to Google Photos using the Upload button in Google Photos quite successfully. But I just did one that uploaded in mirror image and upside down (all others are correctly oriented). I deleted it, and re-uploaded it,  and got the same result. It is oriented correctly and plays as it should on my PC. Any idea what is going on?

Al, if you upload in original size to Google Photos, is it mirror image?

Donna,

Please explain in more detail about the issue you are seeing.
What method are you using to upload?
Are you uploading directly to Google Photos or is Backup & Sync running?
Did you try uploading using other methods?

I have escalated the mirroring issue to the Photos team, but I can't find that it's a wide-spread issue, so I'm not sure they will check into it quickly.

Please provide as many details as possible and steps that you have taken. Is there anything different about the videos that are mirroring than other videos that are normal?

Onion - I will try to lay out all details here. Please yell if you believe I left anything out.

In my Google Photos account, I have:
Videos that were uploaded automatically from my Android phone. They are .mp4 format, and they upload properly.
Videos that were uploaded from my Windows10 computer that were created with Movie Maker. They are .mp4 format, and they upload properly.
Videos that were uploaded from my Windows10 computer that are the problem.
These, I transferred from VHS tape to my PC using Diamond One Touch Video Capture, and then did some editing using CyberLink's Power Director12. I saved the files in .mp4 format.
To upload to Google Photos, I went to my Google Photos account and opened the "Albums" option. There, I clicked on the "Upload" button and completed the upload.
I use FireFox for my browser, but I also tried Chrome and the MicroSoft browser (whatever it's called these days) - Same results with all three.
I uploaded 2 of the problem files to MS One Drive - They upload properly.
As mentioned earlier, it appears that sometimes, the uploaded file is properly oriented at 1st, but later goes mirror image and upside down.
In looking at all of my videos in Google Photos today, I see all properly uploaded prior to July 2018, 12 of which fall into this problem category. From July 2018 to present, there are 16 from this problem category of which 7 are OK and 9 are mirror image and upside down.
I appreciate your help on this and sure hope there is an answer out there some place. Thanks again!
Al

Thank you for the details, Al.

When you download the problem videos to your computer, do they look normal when played on your computer? Or are they also showing as reversed/upside-down?

When I download and play the problem videos to my computer, they show as reversed/upside-down. Same thing when played in Google Photos.

Al

Are you using a mirrored camera app? Or any other 3rd party camera such as Instagram?
Nov 29, 2018
No. Not using mirrored camera app or any other 3rd party camera.

I hope the Photos team will reach out to you, because it sounds like you've given them enough information to look into it.

If you can think of anything else they might need or have done any other testing, please post here.

Thanks for all of the time you put into this - even if no resolution. Hopefully the Photo team will pick up on it.

today 9-13-2019 I have uploaded .mp4  vid  and it is  flipped over Y axis...i.e. mirror image, yet on the computer it plays OK.
Originally, when I loaded it on my computer from the phone it was rotated 90 deg. So I rotated it 270 deg using VLC, to get it right on the computer...and the result was good. Though uploading it to My Drive for sharing  (it is larger then 25MB, so it cannot be sent on Messenger or mailed through g-mail.) resulted in Y mirror.....
