@all
There is actually nothing you can do other than "Remove results" for the wrongly tagged photos (Select photos > 3-dots > Remove results).

The removed photos should come back later, hopefully in the correct group. D. Lieb announced on Twitter that manual tagging is being worked on:

Hi Brogan,

There's a great guide on this page

If you see a photo that's in the wrong group, you can take it out.
  1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com/search.
  2. Click Next
  3. Open the face group you want to remove something from.
  4. At the top right, click More   Remove results.
  5. Select a photo.
  6. At the top, click Remove.
Note: This will not delete the photo or video from your Google Photos library.

Do post again if you have more questions.

If I have photos of my children that are clearly face labeled incorrectly (son who was just born has his photo shown as 10+ years ago as google photos thinks they are the same person). How do I remove the incorrect tag and tag the correct individual?

Same question in pictures where someone isn’t tagged and I want to face label/tag them?

Thanks

Wish there's convenient way to remove all face tags in selection of photos. I took photos of parade. I now got hundreds of strangers' faces from just dozens of photos. So bummed there's no easy way to correct this. I now am removing results for each face one at a time.

The worst of all is that I apparently have reached some limit of face groups and when I remove results now the rest of strangers from the parade got added to my face groups. I guess the only thing I can do is delete these photos and never add photos with lots of strangers in the background to my Google Photos

Also not to upload any photos taken in a broadway show with audience in the background.

I wonder what if I label all strangers faces with the same label. Would that mess up the algorithm? But it would make my lives easier I think as labeling is easier than removing results again and again.

@P Shan
You can also "hide" faces:
  1. Go to https://photos.google.com/people
  2. Click 3-dots > Show & hide faces
  3. Select faces to be hidden (or unhide)
  4. Click "Done"
Not a joy neither, but at least they may not come back.

@janvb

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I think I reached the limit on number of faces for each account. Some faces of people I want to include cannot be included. Hiding faces doesn't help. The only ways to unlabel people and free up more faces, so far I've found, are:
1, remove all results for a face.
2, mark different faces as same person (even though they are not).

Google photos will add my pictures to my 18 month old daughter folder! This is driving me crazy.

I have an identical problem as Brad. I have done  exactly what he has done and Person Y new pictures are still being recognized as person X. Both person X and Y have their own labels.
It seems no one cares to remedy this problem. There should be a way to reassign pictures from one label to another. Since clearly many people have problems with this issue.

See the "Recommended answer" on top of the thread: it is on the road map.

I was able to resolve my issue. I saw a post a while back that if you remove name labels and wait 24 hours the issue may be fixable. I tried it and it worked. I was able to re-label everyone correctly this time. It may be due to this time my kids are older and they look different so there is a bigger database to pull from.
either way, it worked. you guys can give it a try if you haven't already.
