With creations, you can make visual stories and moving images with your photos and videos. You can create:
- Animations: A quick-moving GIF of selected photos and videos.
- Cinematic photos: A 3D effect added to photos.
- Collage: A template with a customisable layout to arrange your photos and videos.
- Highlight videos: A video with music using photos and videos.
- Photo to video: Animate your photo and turn static moments into dynamic six-second video clips.
- Remix: Reimagine your favourite photos in just a few taps with easy-to-use AI-powered templates.

Explore creation tools
The Create tab helps to make it fun and effortless to turn your photos and videos into unique, shareable content using tools with fresh inspiration all in one place.

To access the Create tab:
- On your Android device, open the Google Photos app
.
- At the bottom, tap Create
.
- Browse the available tools.
- To start creating, select a tool.
Make animations
Important: You can't speed up or slow down your animation.
You can create a slideshow of your selected photos and videos.
- On your Android device, open the Google Photos app
.
- At the bottom, tap Create
Animation.
- Select the photos that you want in your animation.
- At the top, tap Create.
Create a Cinematic photo
You can add a 3D effect to your photos.
- On your Android device, open the Google Photos app
.
- Tap the photo that you want.
- Swipe up.
- Tap Create
Cinematic photo.
- At the bottom, tap Save.
You can also create Cinematic photos another way:
- On your Android device, open the Google Photos app
.
- At the bottom, tap Create

Make and edit collages
Important: Some collage editing features aren't available on the web.
Start your collage
There are multiple ways to start a collage.
- Start with photo:
- You can pre-select up to six photos directly from your library.
- To access the collage editor, at the bottom, tap Create

- To start with a template, at the bottom, tap Create

- Select a template.

- Tap a photo from your Photos library.

Edit your collage
You can customise your collage using these options:
- Select a collage design template and layout: You can explore a wide range of templates based on themes and the number of photos.
- Customise your collage: For the grid templates, you can change the border size, shape and colour.
- Add or remove photos: You can easily add photos to or remove them from your collage by switching between different photo-count layouts directly within the editor.
- Edit your photos: You can still edit, replace, resize or change the order of the photos in your collage.
Review, save and share your collage
Once you've chosen a collage layout and finished your edits, you can either save the collage to your library or share it directly with others.
- To save your collage: Tap Save.
- To share your collage: Tap Share

Create a Highlight video
Important:
- If you have an older device, you may not be able to create Highlight videos.
- In Google Photos, you now have more control over the types of videos that you can create with Highlight videos.
You have two ways to create a Highlight video:
Start with a template- On your Android device, open the Google Photos app
.
- At the bottom, tap Create
Highlight video.
- Browse through templates for different themes and narratives.
- Templates are pre-packaged videos that already come with music, text and beatmatching.
- When you find the template that you want to use for your video, tap Use template.
- Select your photos or videos. You can do so in two ways:
- Manually select the best photos or videos from your gallery based on the story that you want to tell.
- To use the assisted content selection for template, tap Help me select
. It'll automatically select the content that you want to include in your video.
- With search: In the search box, type a few words about the people, places, themes or dates to include in your Highlight video. For example, 'Birthday', 'Museum' or 'Japan'.
- With suggested people, places and time frames: From the suggested items, select 'Who', 'Where', 'When' and more.
- At the top right, tap Next.
- Review your video.
- Based on the story that you want to create, you can customise your video by changing the clips, music or text.
- When you've finished, tap Save.
- To watch your Highlight video, tap Play
or wait to be notified when the Highlight video is ready.
Tip: If you don't see the people or time frame that you would like in the suggestions, tap Add person or Date range
.

- To automatically select the content to make a video, use the assisted content selection.
- With search: In the search box, type a few words about the people, places, themes or dates to include in your Highlight video. For example, 'Birthday', 'Museum' or 'Japan'.
- With suggested people, places and time frames: From the suggested items, select 'Who', 'Where', 'When' and more.
- To manually select the best photos or videos from your gallery based on the story that you want to tell, tap or choose specific photos and videos

- To automatically select the content to make a video, use the assisted content selection.
- Tap Create video.
- If you manually select the content, tap Next.
- Review your video.
- Based on the story that you want to create, you can customise your video by changing the clips, music or text.
- When you've finished, tap Save.
- To watch your Highlight video, tap Play
or wait to be notified when the Highlight video is ready.
Tip: If you don't see the people or time frame that you would like in the suggestions, tap Add person or Date range

Edit a Highlight video
- On your Highlight video, tap Edit
- Change music: tap Music
.
- Reorder clips: tap and hold a clip to drag it into a different position.
- Remove clips: tap the clip that you want to remove

- Change music: tap Music
- When you've finished, tap Save.
If you delete photos or videos from Google Photos:
- If you delete a photo or video from your Photos view, it won't be deleted from your saved highlight videos.
- If you want to delete the item from your highlight video as well, open the editor. When you open the highlight video editor, the deleted item automatically gets removed from your highlight video.
Use generative AI to transform your photos
Important:
- These features aren't available in all regions at this time. Functionality can vary by location. Some features may have additional eligibility requirements.
- The photos that you want to edit must be backed up. Learn how to back up photos and videos.
- These features require a network connection.
- You can only generate a limited number of photos or videos per day. Purchasing a Google AI plan increases your number of generations.
You can transform your photos with generative AI through Photo to video, Remix and Me Meme. These features may give unexpected or inaccurate results. When you leave feedback, you can help to improve Photo to video, Remix and Me Meme for everyone.
Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- Remix and Me Meme are only available to users aged 18 years and over.
- The ability to input your own prompts in Photo to video is initially available only to users 18 years old or over.
- You need a personal Google Account. These features aren't available to Google Workspace or school accounts.
Remix is a new tool in the 'Create' tab. It simplifies the creative process through AI templates to help you reimagine your photos into unique, shareable creations with just one tap.
To begin your creation, you can browse the full selection or select a featured template directly:
- On your Android device, open the Google Photos app
.
- At the bottom, tap Create
.
- Open the 'Remix' tool in one of the two ways:
- Find the 'Remix your photos' header and select a template.
- Tap Remix
and you'll be directed to the available templates.
- If this is your first time using the feature, an acknowledgement screen will appear to guide you through important information. To proceed, tap Try now.
- To start with a featured template:
- Under the 'Remix your photos' header, find the featured template cards.
- Scroll to browse the available templates.
- To browse all available templates:
- Tap View all.
- Scroll to go through every template option.
- To filter templates based on your preference:
- Tap the specific category labels.
- Scroll to go through every template option.
- To try a different creative direction, tap a new category at any time to filter the available templates.
- To start with a featured template:
- Tap your chosen template.
- Personalised templates: These are the templates identified with a badge

- Insights from your life are used to generate unique and relevant creations.
- Some of these templates don't require you to upload an image. When you select some of these templates, the generation starts immediately.
- To use any badged template, you must first meet the eligibility requirements for Gemini features in Photos.
- All other templates: Specific creative styles or visual effects are applied to generate a photo of you.
- If you select this template, it requires you to add a reference photo before generation begins.
- To upload a photo from your photo library: Tap Upload your own reference photo

- Tap a suggested photo or continue scrolling to select any other photo from your library.
- To change the uploaded photo: Tap Edit

- To try out Photo to video, tap Try now.
- Select a photo.
- If you've selected a landscape photo: The photo will be automatically cropped to fit the portrait video format.
- Choose an effect or write a prompt.
- Subtle movements
: Add photorealistic motion to the subjects in your photo, like waving or smiling.
- I'm Feeling Lucky
: It can sometimes be a subtle movement or it may turn your photo into a video with more movement like dancing or add special effects like confetti or balloons.
- Use text prompts:
- Important: This feature is only available to users 18 years old or over.
- Use the suggested prompt or type a text prompt to describe the movement, scene or effect that you want in your video.
- To edit your current prompt, tap Refine
to return to the prompt box.
- Important: This feature is only available to users 18 years old or over.
- Subtle movements
- Wait a few moments while your video generates.
- You can find the finished video on the results page.
- To save the video: Tap Save.
- To share the video: Tap Share.
- To share your experience and help us to improve: Tap Send feedback.
Tip: The video that you've created will be saved to the day on which you created it and not the original date on which the photo was taken.

- If this is your first time using the feature, follow the on-screen instructions after the intro screen.
- Select your template.
- Browse templates: You can scroll and select one of the preset templates that Google Photos provides.
- Upload a reference: To use a specific style, upload a funny photo from your library to use as the template.
- Select a photo.
- To change the selected photo, tap Edit
. For the best results, choose a prominent selfie or a photo where your face is clearly visible.
- To change the selected photo, tap Edit
- Tap Generate.
- To save the video: Tap Save

- To get a different result for the same effect: Tap Regenerate

Tips:
- This feature is still experimental, so generated images may not perfectly match the original photo.
- For potentially better results, try to upload a well-lit, focused and front-facing portrait photo, then generate it again.
