Send money using a text message

If you use Android Messages, you can send money to anyone using an SMS text message. Google doesn't charge to use this feature.

Note: This feature is only available in the US. Your Google Account information (name, profile photo, and email) will be visible to the recipient as part of this transaction.

Always double-check that the phone number of the recipient is correct.

Send money

  1. Open Android Messages.
  2. Choose the contact you want to send money to.
  3. Tap Add Add.
  4. Scroll down and tap Send .
  5. Choose the payment method you want to use to pay.
    • First time: Enter your payment method information.
  6. Enter the amount you want to send.
  7. Tap Continue.
  8. Choose a theme.
  9. Tap Attach money.
  10. Send the message.

Claim money sent to you in messages

  1. Open the message with money attached.
  2. Tap the message.
  3. Tap Claim money.
  4. Enter your debit card information.
  5. Tap Transfer money.

Request money

  1. Open Android Messages.
  2. Choose the contact you want to request money from.
  3. Tap Add Add.
  4. Scroll down and tap Request Request.
  5. Enter the amount you want to request.
  6. Tap Attach request.
  7. Send the message.
