Send money internationally

Important: This feature is available on Android and iOS app v130 and up.

You can send money to friends or family in India and Singapore.

Send money

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. Search for the contact in India or Singapore you want to send money to.
  3. Tap Pay.
  4. Select Western Union or Wise
    • If you don’t already have an account with one of these partners, you can follow the onscreen instructions to create one.
    • Google Pay is the default payment method for Wise.
  5. For Western Union, tap Google Pay under “How you would like to pay.”
  6. If you haven’t sent money to this person before, add their payment details.
  7. When the transaction is complete, you get a status message in your conversation.
    • You might be asked to verify your identity through Western Union or Wise during the transaction process.

Important: When you send money internationally, it will be sent through Western Union or Wise. Confirm all payment details and verify the receiver’s identity before sending any payments. Contact Wise or Western Union for more info.

Check the status of your money transfer

  1. Open the Google Pay app .
  2. Select the contact you transferred money to.
  3. On the payment confirmation, tap Check Status.
    • If you select Western Union you’ll be directed to Western Union’s account status lookup. You’ll be directed to add in transaction details. For the transaction number, check the email Western Union sent you. 
    • If you select Wise you'll find your payment status after you tap Check Status.
  4. The status will be one of the following:
    • Pending: The payment is in process with the partner, or sender info is being confirmed. 
    • Completed: The transaction is complete. 
    • Canceled: The transaction was canceled.
