What is a Financial year?

The Financial year is a 12-month period from April to March 31 of the following year, when you earn income through your business.

The financial year in India is used for calculating taxes. For example, the income earned from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025 is the turnover for the financial year 2024-2025.

What is Goods and Services Tax (GST)?

Google Pay applies 18% GST on the MDR amount.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a single, indirect tax in India. It is applied at each stage when a product or service is sold. The tax goes to the state where the goods or services are consumed.

How can I update my business category?

To update your business category:

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay for Business app Google Pay.
  2. Tap Store Settings and then Advanced settings and then Store details.
  3. To edit your business category, tap Edit Edit.
  4. Once you've made your changes, tap Submit for verification.

To request verification, you must tap the “Start video call” button to start a video verification call with our support team. After the changes are verified, your business category will be updated.

How can I stop accepting payments from RuPay credit cards and wallets on UPI?

You can disable accepting MDR-applicable RuPay credit cards and wallets transactions as a payment method by following the steps below:

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay for Business app Google Pay.
  2. Go to Store settings and then Payment methods.
  3. Tap Turn off in the payments method page in the RuPay credit cards on UPI section.
  4. On the next page, confirm your choice.
I am charged incorrectly for RuPay credit card and wallet payments

MDR is based on your business category and yearly turnover.

To get a transaction breakdown:

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay for Business app Google Pay.
  2. Go to the transaction you want to review.
  3. Review the transaction details.

Where can I find my invoices?
  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay for Business app Google Pay.
  2. Tap Advanced settings and then Invoices.
  3. Under the UPI Credit Card acceptance fee section, tap Manage.
  4. Tap View invoices. If MDR has been deducted from your settlements, you will see invoices in this section.
  5. Tap on a particular invoice to view more details.
  6. In the invoice details, tap Download to save the invoice as a PDF document on your device.
Why am I not able to accept payments above ₹ 2,000 from RuPay credit cards and wallets on UPI?

To accept payments above ₹ 2,000 from RuPay credit cards and wallets on UPI, please follow the steps below:

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Pay for Business app Google Pay.
  2. Tap Store settings and then Payment methods.
  3. If you're eligible, you get the option to activate RuPay credit card payment acceptance.
  4. At the bottom of the page, tap Set up now and follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. If you accept payments that attract MDR, you'll be prompted to create a payment profile.
Why am I not able to see the option to accept RuPay credit card payments on UPI in the app?
