Minimum requirements
These are the requirements that you'll need to meet to show your product. If you don't follow these requirements, we'll disapprove your product and let you know in your Merchant Center account.
- Submit the colour of your product.
- Submit only one attribute per variant. If you provide multiple colour attributes for the same variant, only one will be applied. Additional colour attributes will be discarded, and you will receive a warning.
- Use the same colour in your product data as on your landing page. For example, if you use 'Toasted Walnut' on your landing page, then submit that value in your product data. Don't submit 'Brown'.
-
Submit the colour attribute for all products that vary by colour. Use this attribute when your product is a variant that's distinguished by its colour (for example, black suede shoes and blue suede shoes), make sure that you also submit each variant with the same value for the item group ID
[item_group_id]
attribute for each variant of the product. - Include up to three colours. If your product is made up of several colours, you can specify one primary colour followed by up to two secondary colours that are each separated by a slash (
/
). For example:Red/Green/Black
. Don't submit multiple colours with a comma (,
). For example, for a red shoe with green and black accents, list:'Red/Green/Black'. Don't combine colours together, e.g. 'RedGreenBlack'. Don't submit multiple colours with a comma ('Red', 'Green', 'Black'). If you use commas when entering colours, only one colour will be applied. - Don't use a number as a colour such as '0 2 4 6 8'.
- Don't use characters that aren't alphanumeric, such as '#fff000'.
- Include more than one letter and not values such as 'R'. For Chinese, Japanese or Korean languages, you can include a single character such as 红.
- Don't reference the product or image, such as 'see image'.
- Don't include a value that isn't a colour, such as 'variety', 'men's', 'women's', 'N/A'.

To indicate a precious metal, submit a value for the material attribute as well as a value for the colour
[color]
attribute. If your product is made of a precious metal, like a gold ring, submit this information with the material[material]
and colour [color] attributes. - Include standard colour names in your title. When you submit a value for the colour attribute, submit the colour that matches the one on the landing page for that product. When submitting a value for the title
[title]
attribute, pick the standard colour name that a customer would search for. For example, a customer is more likely to search for 'red dress' than 'cinnamon apple' dress.
