Google Merchant Center requires business identity verification to maintain a safe Shopping ecosystem and build trust between retailers and customers. This process confirms the legal existence of your business and ensures that the individuals managing the account have the authorization to do so.

Provide your documents
You might be asked to provide documents to verify an individual's identity and/or an organization's registration:
- Self identity (government identification): For example, passport or driver’s license.
- Organization identity (business documents): Requires official registration documents matching the legal organization name. For example, tax certificates.
Document guidelines
To prevent failed verification attempts, ensure your submissions meet the following technical requirements:
- Documents must be current and not expired. All 4 corners of the document must be visible in the image.
- Ensure photos are clear, in focus, and free of reflections or glare. Low-quality or blurry images will be rejected. Images of photocopies or screenshots aren’t accepted. You must submit a high-quality original photo of the document.
- The legal name and address on your documents must exactly match the information in your Merchant Center profile and/or Google payments profile. If the organization name on your payments profile differs from your proof of organization document, you must update your payments profile name to match before resubmitting.
Data privacy and deletion
Self identity and business documents are handled securely.
- Self identity: Self identity documents may be stored in either your Google Account or Google payments profile.
- Go to your Google Account settings to manage or delete your identity data.
- If a payment profile was used, visit Google payments to manage your payment profile and delete submitted documents.
- Organizational document: Visit Google payments to manage your payment profile and delete submitted documents.
