Updates to advanced shipping costs

This article outlines the features being deprecated or migrated to an API only path in the advanced shipping settings, to build a simpler and user friendly experience.

Multiple shipping rates within one shipping service

Shipping labels assign different shipping settings to a specific group of products, such as “heavy products” or “products eligible for free shipping”. This option will be applied to the entire shipping service.

With this launch, multiple shipping rates (for example, one rate for the “free shipping” label and another for the rest of the products) will be split into multiple shipping services.

Single shipping rate per service

If you’ve set up only one shipping rate per shipping service, the only difference in the migrated services is how it’s displayed. There will be no other impact.

This diagram illustrates that there are no changes to delivery speed and shipping costs if you have one shipping rate per shipping service.

Multiple shipping rates per service

If you have multiple shipping rates within a single shipping service, your shipping rates will be automatically split into multiple shipping services. If you exceed 20 shipping rates per country, your services won’t be auto-migrated.

This image illustrates the Shipping Rates interface where you can set multiple shipping rates within a single shipping service.

  • 20 or fewer shipping rates per country: Multiple shipping rates will be split into different shipping services.
  • Number of shipping rates per country exceeds 20: Your service won’t be migrated if you’ve exceeded 20 shipping services per country after the shipping rates are split. When notified, you’ll be required to edit your shipping services and reduce the number of shipping services or rates.

Subtables

A shipping rate table can be configured using two dimensions, such as “destination” and “weight.” However, you may add a third or fourth dimension, such as “number of items,” by linking a subtable.

This feature will be removed from advanced cost settings and become API-only. When notified, you’ll be required to remove the subtables assigned to your shipping services.
