Download the Google Meet Progressive Web App on your computer

Important: This is for your computer only and must run on Google Chrome version 73 and up.

Find your meeting window faster and easier with the Google Meet Progressive Web App (PWA). The PWA and Google Meet have the same features. They automatically update when your Google Chrome browser updates.

The PWA is supported on:

• Windows
• macOS
• Chrome OS
• Linux

Install the Google Meet Progressive Web App

To install the PWA, Chrome doesn’t need to be your default browser, but Chrome must be open.

1. On your computer, go to meet.google.com.
2. At the top right of your browser, in the URL bar, click Install .
3. The Meet app appears in your app dock.

Open the Google Meet Progressive Web App

1. From the app dock, click the Meet app .
2. On the left side, select an option.
   • Meetings: Join or create a meeting.
   • Calls: Start a call or create a group link to start a group call. Learn how to make video or voice calls with Google Meet.

From a browser on your computer:

1. Go to meet.google.com or a meeting green room.
2. In the browser bar, tap Open app .
3. Select Google Meet Open.

Tip: When you join a meeting from a Calendar event, you’re taken to the meeting green room. From the browser bar, open the app.

Switch from the Duo PWA and Duo ChromeOS app to Meet PWA

Important:

• The Duo PWA and the Duo ChromeOS app have been replaced with the Meet PWA.
  • The Duo ChromeOS app icon automatically updates to the Google Meet icon  and directs to the Meet PWA.
• The Meet PWA:
  • Doesn’t have calling emojis. Emojis are still available on the mobile Meet app.
  • Can receive messages, but not send them. Messages can still be sent and received on Meet in your browser.
  • Has new Meeting functionality. Learn more about Google Meet features in the Meet app.

Update from the Duo PWA to the Meet PWA

1. From the app dock, click the Duo app .
2. View the "Duo is now Meet" promo.
3. Click Open Meet and Install  Try the Google Meet web app  Install.
   • If you have the old Meet app installed, the Open in app pop-up appears instead in your browser’s address bar.
4. Right-click the Duo icon in your app dock.
   • Hover over the icon to show the name as "Google Meet Calling."
5. Click Uninstall.
