Share your real-time location with others

You can choose who can see where you are on a continuing basis and for how long using Google Location Sharing. 

Note: Other Google products may also allow you to share a one-time location with others.  

You need a mobile device to share your real-time location through Location Sharing, but you can control your Location Sharing settings from a computer.Learn more about how to use the Google Maps app to share your real-time location.

See where someone is

If someone shares their location with you through Location Sharing, you can see them on Google Maps.

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps. Google Maps
  2. Click Menu Menuand then Location sharing.
  3. Choose someone.

Hide someone's location

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps. Google Maps
  2. Click Menu Menuand thenLocation sharing.
  3. Tap their icon.
  4. To temporarily hide someone, tap HIDE ON MAP. You can stop hiding them at any time.

Note: You can stop someone’s location from ever appearing on your map. Learn how to block another person’s account.

Stop hiding someone

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps. Google Maps
  2. Click Menu Menuand thenLocation sharing.
  3. Roll over the hide icon next to someone.
  4. Click Show on map.

Stop sharing your real-time location

  1. On your computer, open your Location sharing settings.
  2. Next to the person with whom you want to stop sharing, tap Remove Remove.
