Publish and connect 360 photos

You can publish and link your 360 photos together using the Street View app.

Before you start

Make sure your pictures are:

  • At least 7.5MP (4K) with a 2:1 aspect ratio.
  • No more than 75 megabytes in size.

Step 1: Publish your photos

  1. Open the Street View app Street View.
  2. Under "Private," tap Select.
  3. Choose a photo to publish.
  4. If you blurred a photo, choose what to do to your published photo:
    • Add blur: Tap More More and then Apply blurring Apply blur.
    • Clear blur: Tap More More and then Remove blurring Remove blur.
  5. Tap Upload File upload.
  6. Tap Publish. You’ll see your photo under "Profile".

Find older photos

You can find 360 photos that you published before November 2016 in the Geo Panoramas folder in Google Photos.

Note: When you delete, move, share, or hide 360 photos from the Geo Panoramas folder, those photos will be deleted from Google Maps.

Get listed as a Street View trusted photographer

After you’ve published fifty 360 photos, you'll be invited to join the Local Guides program as a trusted professional. You will also have access to an exclusive Street View trusted photographer forum on Local Guides Connect. To see if you've been invited, check the Street View app.

To get the trusted badge and be listed on the for-hire index, fill out the form that’s emailed to you and turn on the for-hire setting.

  1. Open the Street View app Street View.
  2. In the top left, tap Menu Menu.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Turn on Available for Hire.
  5. Check the box next to "Get listed as trusted professional for hire."
  6. Tap Join Local Guides.

Step 2: Connect your photos

Automatically connect photos

Your photos may be automatically connected within 24 hours if:

  • You’ve made and published a set of 360 photos according to these spacing recommendations.
  • "Geotag 360 photos" is turned on.
  • You've earned and activated the trusted badge in the Street View app.
  • You’ve used auto-capture to make indoor 360 photos within two small steps of each other (1 m / 3 ft).
  • You’ve used auto-capture to make outdoor 360 photos within five steps of each other (3 m / 10 ft).

You can also have the Street View app suggest the five closest 360 photos that you can connect.

  1. Open a published photo.
  2. In the top right, tap More More and then Connect nearby photos.

Stop automatically connecting photos

  1. Open the Street View app Street View.
  2. Tap Menu Menu.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Turn off Auto-connect 360 photos.

Connect photos yourself

  1. Open the Street View app Street View.
  2. On the "Profile" tab, find a photo and tap Select.
  3. Pick the photos you want:
    • Choose two photos: Tap the ones that you want to connect.
    • Choose all photos: In the top right, tap More More and then Select all.
  4. In the top right, tap More More and then Connect 360 photos.
  5. Your photos will show up on the map as numbered markers.
  6. Tap and drag each photo to the correct location. Swipe left and right on the photo to see all directions.
  7. To try your new connection, open your photo in the "Profile" tab and tap the white arrow.

Edit photos you connected

  • Add a connection between two photos: Tap the light line.
  • Delete a connection: Tap the solid line.
  • Align a photo: Slide the compass at the bottom of the screen. It's correctly aligned when the numbered circles are in the right places.
  • Fix photos taken indoors or near buildings: Drag the numbered markers to the right area.
  • Save your work: Tap the numbered markers to check connections before you save. Tap Done Done.

Optional: Move, rotate, and resize 360 photos

On your mobile device, you can adjust multiple 360 photos at the same time. This helps you refine your photo connections.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Street View app Street View.
  2. Tap the photos that you want.
  3. In the top right, tap More More and then Move and connect photos. You’ll see your photos on the map as numbered markers.
  4. Choose what you want to change:
    • Adjust multiple photos: On the top right, tap More More and then Edit Multiple.
    • Adjust all photos: In the top right, tap More More and then Select All.
  5. After you’ve picked your photos:
    • Move the photos: Tap and drag with one finger.
    • Rotate the photos: Tap and move two fingers around each other on the screen.
    • Resize the photo selection: Pinch and zoom with two fingers.

Add to a Maps listing

  1. Open the Street View app Street View.
  2. Under "Profile" or "Private", below a photo not tied to a Maps listing, tap Add a Maps listing.
  3. See a list of nearby places, or search for specific place.
  4. Tap the Maps listing that you want to update.

Edit a location

  1. Open the Street View app Street View.
  2. Under "Private", tap a photo to view it.
  3. In the top right, tap More More.
  4. Tap Edit location.
  5. Tap and drag the location marker to a new position. You can zoom the map in or out.
  6. Tap Done Done.
