Brand [brand]

Use the brand [brand] attribute to indicate the product's brand name. The brand is used to help identify your product and will be shown to customers. The brand name should be clearly visible on the front of the product packaging or label. The brand name should be an integral part of the packaging and not artificially added in the product image. When to use

• Required for each product with a clearly associated brand or manufacturer.
• Required for each product where the manufacturer is also the merchant (for example, homemade and custom-made products).
• Optional for any product that doesn’t have a clearly associated brand (for example, movies, books, music, and posters).
• Only provide a brand if you’re sure it’s correct. When in doubt don’t provide a brand (for example, do not guess or make up a value).

Guidelines

Follow these guidelines to make sure you submit high-quality data for your products.

Minimum requirements

These are the requirements you'll need to meet to show your product on Google. If you don't follow these requirements, we'll disapprove your product and let you know in the Diagnostics page of your Manufacturer Center account.

• Submit all other relevant unique product identifiers. When you submit these product identifiers, we can better understand your products. When we understand your products, we can help connect customers to your products' ads and make those ads richer. Learn more about product identifier attributes.
• Use the brand name of the product that people shopping online generally will recognize.
• Don’t provide a value that’s not a brand. For example, don't use "N/A", "Generic", "No brand", or "Does not exist". Also, do not provide a sub-brand in this field. You can provide this data using the product line attribute.
• The brand in your product data must match a registered brand exactly. This includes capitalization. If the registered brand and brand attribute do not match exactly, the data will not be accepted. Learn more about registering brands.

Best practices

These best practices can help you go beyond the basic requirements to optimize your product data for performance.

• Submit the publisher name as the brand for media products like CDs.
• Submit products that are your brand only. Do not rebrand other branded products with your brand, even if they are compatible with your product.
• Submit the brand in only 1 language or alphabet. For example, if your products target Japan, submit either グーグル or Google, but do not submit (Google) グーグル.

Compatible products

Submit your brand for compatible products. Don't submit the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) details to indicate that your product is compatible with or a replica of the OEM brand's product. Learn more about compatible products and unique identifiers.

Products with multiple brands

Submit your own brand for products that have multiple brands. Some products have multiple brands associated with them. Only submit these products under your own brands. Don't submit products under brands that you do not own or license.

Licensed brands

You may submit products under brands that you license from another manufacturer. If you have a direct-to-consumer business, do not upload products from brands that you distribute but do not own or license.
