Search Gmail for an available space

There are two ways to use Gmail to find a space to join a topic of interest.

Use the Gmail search bar to find a space

1. Open Gmail.
2. In the search bar, enter keywords on topics you want to find.
3. Below the search bar, you can filter results by Mail, Messages, or Spaces. 
   • Choosing Spaces will narrow down your results to space names or descriptions that match the keywords you search for.
4. Use the drop-down filter to choose from:
   • All spaces
   • Spaces I have joined
   • Spaces I haven't joined
5. If you're using a work or school account, you'll also see a drop-down filter to choose from:
   • Internal & External: Spaces that organization and non-organization members can join
   • Internal: Spaces that only allow organization members to join
   • External: Spaces that allow non-organization members to join

Use the left panel in Gmail to find a space

1. Open Gmail.
2. On the left panel, select an option:
   • Next to "Spaces," click Create or find a space .
   • Next to “Chat,” click Start a chat .
3. Click Browse spaces.
4. Enter the space name you want to find.
5. Point to the space name.
6. To preview the space before joining, click Preview. To join the space, click .

Note: Discoverable spaces can only be searched via the Gmail search bar. They can't be searched via "Browse spaces" in the left panel.
