Create a space

Important: Space names are visible for all members of the domain with access to Chat service.

When you want to communicate with a group of people or an organisation about a topic, project or shared interest, create a space in Google Chat. Learn more about spaces in Chat.

Create a new space

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chat app or Gmail app .
   • In Gmail: At the bottom, tap Chat .
2. In the bottom navigation menu, tap New chat Create a space.
3. Enter a name for the space.
   • Optional: To add a space avatar, tap Choose an emoji select an emoji.
4. Tap Create.

Tip: After you create the space, you can:

• Add people to the space
• Add apps to the space
• Share files
• Assign tasks
• Manage space settings
