To improve Google Maps and share your favourite photos and videos, add them to Google Maps. You can add or remove them at any time. You can't add photos or videos to addresses or coordinates.
When you post photos, others can also find:
- Your name that appears on your About me page
- Other photos you added to Google Maps
- Reviews you wrote on Google Maps
- Location info on your photos and videos

Add a photo
Add a photo from a place page
- On your computer, open Google Maps and search for a place.
- After selecting a place, click Add a photo.
- You might have to scroll down to find this.
- When the photo picker appears, drag the photo you want to upload, or click Choose photos to upload.
Tip: You can add photos for points of interest, like businesses or parks.
Add photos from 'Your contributions'
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- In the top left, click Menu
Your contributions.
- Under the 'Contribute' tab, click Add your photos to Maps. You'll only get this option if you've taken photos on your phone and we can find their location.
- To post a photo: click one or more photos.
- To edit a photo’s location: click the name of the place, then select a different place.
- At the top, click Post

Tip: Make sure that you have Location History turned on.
Find or restrict your photos
Find your photos
To find photos you've shared on Google Maps:
- On your computer, open Google Maps
- In the top left, click Menu
Your contributions.
- Select Photos.
Tip: Others who use Google Maps can find your photos and reviews in 'Your contributions'. There’s a link to 'Your contributions' in all of the reviews and photos you submit.
Find out how your profile appears to the public
Your reviews, shared photos and Local Guides progress make up your Google Maps profile. Your profile is public, so other users can discover the list of places you've rated and reviewed. To find out how your profile appears for others:
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- On the left, click Menu
Your contributions.
- Click Contribute
Profile settings.
- Click View your public profile.
Restrict the photos in your profile
You can restrict which shared photos and videos others can find on your public profile. You can still find your photo, rating or review on that place’s page, unless you delete it directly.
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- On the left, click Menu
Your contributions.
- Click Contribute
Profile settings.
- Turn off Show contributions on your public profile.
Your profile will no longer list any of your reviews and ratings.
Share a photo
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- In the top left, click Menu
Your contributions.
- Select Photos.
- Find the photo you want to share.
- In the top right, click More
Share.
Delete a photo
Photos you add on Google Search can be deleted on Google Maps.
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- In the top left, click Menu
Your contributions.
- Click the "Photos" tab to view your contributed photos.
- To delete a photo, click More
Delete this photo.
If you delete photos on Google Maps, they’ll also be removed from Google Search. The photos that you delete from Google Maps won’t be removed from:
- The gallery on your phone or tablet
- Google Photos, if you have back up & sync turned on
- Google Drive, if you have sync turned on
Tip: It can take several minutes to delete photos. If your changes don’t update straight away, close 'Your contributions' and re-open it.
Add or delete a photo from Business Profile
If you’re a verified business owner, you can add or delete photos of your business.
Report a photo on Google Maps
If you see something in Google Maps that is inappropriate or inaccurate, you can let us know.
- Search for a place or touch it on the map.
- On the top left, click the large photo to open the photo gallery.
- Click the photo that you want to report.
- On the left side, click More
