What's New

New features and enhancements are sorted by the Jamboard hardware, Jamboard software, mobile and tablet apps, and web viewer. Jamboard automatically updates to the latest release version when you connect to the Internet. To view your board’s release:

  1. Tap Menu Menu.
  2. Tap About Jamboard.

    Under Build, you see a long string. This string contains the date when the software was last updated. For example, “jam_kiosk_20170427-1700_RC04.152203228” is dated 2017-04-27, which means that this version of the software was last updated on April 27, 2017. We recommend that you update your product to the latest settings.

Jamboard kiosk

What's New

  • Edit Recognized Handwriting - Users can now edit their recognized handwritten text with the stylus, allowing for the quick deletion, insertion, and merging of text.
  • GIF Support - Jamboard now supports adding GIF images via Google Drive.
  • Moving Object to Adjacent Frame - Objects can be moved to adjacent jam frames by selecting and sliding towards the left or right edge of the screen.

  • Multiple accessibility improvements to the Kiosk App.
  • UI polish improvements for the Feedback UI and toast notifications.

Mobile

Jamboard Admin console

What's New

  • Admins can now see historical data for Wi-Fi network strength (RSSI), Wi-Fi network speed, and board online/offline status.

Jamboard kiosk

What's New

  • Object Duplication - Users can now duplicate objects by selecting an object and clicking on the Duplicate icon.
  • Gboard Latin IME - The new Gboard keyboard on the Jamboard now lets users input text using ‘Glide’ typing in addition to the regular typing.
  • Admin Tool - A new Admin Tool on the Jamboard, which lets IT admins and advanced users now troubleshoot basic functionality on the Jamboard.
  • Updated certificate support for WiFi. Learn more about certificate installation.

Improvements

  • Lasso element selection now allows users to select both the drawing layer as well as objects like post-its, stickers, images, etc.
  • Meetings on the Jamboard now support Hangouts calls with ‘#’ alias/meeting names.
  • Users now see better warning messages when pushing Jams to boards on external domains.

Jamboard Admin console

What's New

  • Admins can now see a summary of fleet health at the top of the Jamboard Admin console list page (specifically, number of devices healthy and unhealthy).
  • Admins can now add free-text notes to devices in the Jamboard Admin console.
  • Admins can now also see the last time certain health fields were "green" (i.e., if Bluetooth is disabled, shows the last time it was seen enabled).

Improvements

  • Resolved an issue that occurred sometimes when pairing Chromeboxes for Meetings to Jamboards.
  • Disabled the option to reboot an offline device that could cause an offline device to reboot after powering up.
  • Minor UI Improvements.
April 27, 2017 release

Jamboard kiosk

What’s New

  • Updated WiFi settings. Jamboard software has expanded its enterprise WiFi settings to be at parity with Android M enterprise WiFi capabilities. Please update your board to this release for these settings. Learn more about WiFi on Jamboard.

Mobile apps

What’s New

  • Improvements in functionality to the app. Please update your phone or tablet to the latest version of the Jamboard app.
