Room and rate filters for properties located in Japan

After choosing a hotel in Google Search, travelers can click through to view the details of that property, including booking links and other property details. For properties located in Japan, room and rate filters allow travelers to view the price with conditional filters applied. This narrows travelers’ search results and makes it easier to select among properties.

This illustration highlights the "Compare prices" section of a hotel's property details on Google Search.

How to provide data for room and rate filters

Note: All users in Japan with their browser language set to Japanese can now view the filters on Google Hotels.

To make room and rate filters available to travelers when they search for properties in Japan, follow the Transaction (Property Data) XML syntax in the ARI section of the Developer’s Guide, or the Pricing and Room Inventory (Transaction) XML syntax if you’re not using ARI, for each element below.

  • To add meal filters: Include the <Meals> element under the <PackageData> element.
  • To add room type filters: Add the <JapaneseHotelRoomStyle> and <Beds> elements under <RoomFeatures>.
  • To add filters for room characteristics: Include <OpenAirBath> and <Smoking> elements under <RoomFeatures>.
  • To add filters for check in and out: Include <CheckinTime> and <CheckoutTime> under <PackageData> element.

Note: All elements must have a value. For example, if <JapaneseHotelRoomStyle/> isn’t specified, it doesn’t default to “japanese”. Similarly, if your listing doesn’t have values for <Breakfast/> or <Meal/> elements, it doesn’t qualify for filters on “no breakfast included”.

The room and rate the user clicked on from Google must be displayed prominently on your landing page. To ensure this:

  1. Review the guidelines on the Prominent display of selected room and rate.
  2. Configure your landing page URL to include PACKAGE-ID and PARTNER-ROOM-ID.
