Play Store rewards

Rewards are promotional codes that let you redeem discounted content in the Play Store app.

When you receive promotional codes for discounted items, you can use them immediately or save them for later. However, rewards expire if you don't use them.

To find active rewards:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  2. At the top right, tap the profile picture.
  3. Tap Offers & notifications.
  4. Go to the "Offers" tab.
    • On older versions of the Play Store app, go to Account and then Rewards.

Tip: We previously called some rewards "coupons."

Promotion redemption

Promotions require you to claim and redeem them in order to use them. Being sent an offer doesn’t redeem it.

To find offers available to you:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  2. At the top right, tap the profile picture.
  3. Tap Offers & notifications.
  4. To find any eligible offers, tap the Offers tab.

If you find an offer in the "Notifications" tab that isn’t in the "Offers" tab:

  1. Find the promotion you want to use.
  2. Select either Claim Now or Get Reward.
  3. After you redeem the offer, you're taken to a new page with a description of the offer and the word "Saved" next to the offer's expiration date.
    • Depending on the promotion type, you may have the option to "use in game."

Tips:

  • Offers are linked to a single account. Other accounts can't use those offers, even on the same device.
  • Many promotions have a minimum spend amount. For example, a $1 USD credit for an app or game over $5 USD only works when you spend over $5 USD.
  • Offers for apps and games aren't eligible for subscription purchases.
  • Many promotions have an expiration date that you can find after you claim the promotions.
  • Notifications expire, but the expiration date for these notifications doesn't appear.
  • Offers that were already redeemed appear in the "Rewards" page.
  • If offers don't appear in the "Rewards" page, that means the offer expired, wasn't redeemed, or belongs to a different account.
Discount coupons

You can get discount coupons through Play Store Rewards or by exchanging Play Points.

All discount coupons:

  • Are tied to a specific account.
    • For example, if you have multiple profiles on one device, you can't apply discounts to purchases by other accounts.
  • Have a preset discount amount in a specific currency.
  • Can only be applied to a purchase in the same currency.
    • Play Store doesn't support currency conversion, so you should make the purchase with a form of payment that supports the same currency as the coupon.
  • Can only be applied to purchases made in the same country or region where the discount was redeemed.
    • For example, a $5 USD discount coupon redeemed while in the US only applies to USD purchases made while in the US.
Redeem a promotional code for a book

You can get Google Play promo codes to purchase specific books at reduced prices or at no charge.

  1. Before you buy a book, follow the steps under Promotion redemption.
    • If you don’t redeem the offer right away, you can find it later on your offers page
    • If the book is available at no charge, it’s added to your library right away.
  2. Add the book to your cart.
  3. Complete your checkout.
    • Your offer is applied to eligible purchases.
    • The book appears in your library.

To read your book, open it with the Google Play Books app or on the web.

Tip: Some promo codes have redemption limits and are applied in the order they are received.

Purchased an item with a different account

It's not possible to share or transfer content between accounts on Google Play, even if you own both accounts. If you have multiple accounts on your device, make sure you sign in to the account you want to use before you complete your purchase.

These Google Play products are not refundable or transferable unless required by law (for instance, underage user accounts):

  • Play gift cards
  • Prepaid Play balance
    • Cash top-ups
  • Promotional Play balance

Google Play gift cards aren't eligible to be used as a family payment method or for underage user accounts.

If you’ve bought an app on the wrong account, contact the app developer. They may be able to refund your purchase so you can buy it again on the account you wanted to use.

Tip: You can share apps and digital content with your family with Google Play Family Library.

Use your gift

Redeemed gifts and some promo codes appear as part of your Google Play balance. This can be used for many purchases on Google Play (and purchases on YouTube in some countries).
