Digital Copy of movies purchased on DVD and Blu-ray

Some Google Play products and features aren't available in all countries. See what's available in your country

When you buy select movies on DVD and Blu-ray, you also get access to a Digital Copy, so you can watch the same movie on Google Play. Once you’ve added one of these movies to your library, you’ll be able to watch it using the Play Movies Google Play Movies & TV app as well as on your computer at play.google.com/movies.

Step 1: Redeem your Digital Copy movie

To get started, follow the instructions provided with your purchased DVD or Blu-ray movie to redeem your Digital Copy.

If you received a promotional code, make sure to carefully enter the code following the instructions included with your movie. If your code isn’t working or you’re having trouble redeeming your code, you can find help with your code on the redemption website or through our partner list below.

Step 2: Create or sign in to your account on Google Play

If you don’t have a Google Account

After you’ve successfully entered your promotional code, you’ll need to create one before you can add a movie to your library on Google Play. This will be the account you’ll use to access the Digital Copy of your movie on Google Play and the Google Play Movies & TV app.

If you have a Google Account

If you aren’t signed in to your Google Account, you can sign in to add your movie to your account’s library. If you’re already signed in to your account on Google Play, make sure that you’re signed in to the account (visible on the top right of the screen) where you’d like your movie to be added, as movies cannot be transferred between accounts.

Step 3: Watch your movie on Google Play or the Google Play Movies & TV app

After your movie has been added to your Google Play library, you can watch your movie on Google Play or through the Google Play Movies & TV app.

Troubleshooting

Finding movies you’ve added to your library
You can watch your movies on the Google Play Movies & TV app or on Google Play. Learn how to find movies you’ve added to your library.
Is my Digital Copy in standard (SD) or high definition (HD) ?
If you purchased a DVD, your Digital Copy will be in standard definition (SD). If you purchased a Blu-ray, your Digital Copy will be in high definition (HD).
Can redemption codes be used more than once?
No, promotional codes can only be redeemed once. Additional attempts will result in invalid transactions.
Do e-copies of my purchased DVD or Blu-ray cost extra?
No, there’s no charge for the Digital Copy. You won’t need to add a credit card or other form of payment to add a Digital Copy of your purchased DVD or Blu-ray to your Google Play library when using a promotional code.
I used the wrong Google Account when adding movie to Google Play library
Movies can't be transferred between Google Accounts. But you can change which account you’re using on the Google Play Movies & TV app to watch your movie.
I already have the purchased movie in my Google Play library, can I get a different movie?
Your promotional code is only valid for the movie you purchased. If you have same movie in your Google Play library in SD and use a promotional code for an HD version of your movie, your movie will be upgraded to the HD version.
Can I redeem promotional codes in a country outside of where a movie was purchased?
No, you can’t redeem your promotional code outside of the country where your movie was purchased. So if you bought a DVD or Blu-ray in one country, then travel outside of that country, you won’t be able to redeem your promotional code while you’re outside of the country where your movie was purchased.
