Play games with a Gamer ID

For some games on Google Play Games, you have the option to sign in and play using a Gamer ID, a unique username linked to your Google account.

Why use a Gamer ID?

By signing in to a game with your Gamer ID, you can:

  • Play games across Android, iOS, and the web
  • Participate in leaderboards
  • Earn in-game achievements
  • Save your in-game progress
  • Play others through multiplayer modes on web, mobile, tablet, and Android TV games

If a game has a sign in button for Play Games, you can use your Gamer ID with that game.

Create a Gamer ID and sign in

When you sign in to a game on Play Games or the Play Games app itself, you'll be prompted to create a Gamer ID:

  1. When you see the prompt, tap Next.
  2. You'll see a default Gamer ID and photo.
  3. Choose whether to allow others to see your game activity and/or discover your Gamer ID using your email or name.
  4. Tap Sign in.

Once you're signed in to Play Games with your Gamer ID, you'll be automatically signed in to most of the games you play. You can always change your automatic sign in setting.

Note: If an inappropriate Gamer ID is reported to us and violates our policies, we may change the ID or ban the user. Privacy and sharing settings for inappropriate Gamer IDs will be turned off and will need to be turned back on manually. You can report inappropriate Gamer IDs and read more about our policies here.

    • If unchecked, your game activity will not be public. You won’t show up in leaderboards, and your gamer profile won’t show your game activity.

Note: Your Play Games profile information and game activity will still be shared with applicable game developers. For more information, review the game developer’s privacy policy.
