Change the account on your Android TV

You’ll sign in to your Google Account as part of your Android TV set up. You need a Google Account on your device to use Android TV. You can only have one Google account signed in on your Android TV at a time. 

The Google Account on your Android TV device will be used for the following apps: Google Play Store, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Games, and YouTube. 

Add a new account to your Nexus Player

On a Nexus Player with the most up-to-date Android TV version, you can have one or more Google Accounts on your Android TV at a time. 

  1. From Android TV’s Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings Settings.
  2. Select Settings Settings
  3. Under “Accounts,” select Add account Add.
  4. To sign in, enter your email address and password or use your phone or laptop.
  5. You’ll see a screen that says “Success” when your account is added. 

Note: Your experience may vary if you’re running Android TV on a device other than the Nexus Player. Contact your device’s manufacturer for more information about updating your device.

More settings

You can sync whole accounts or remove accounts.

  1. From Android TV’s Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings Settings.
  2. Select Settings Settings
  3. Under “Accounts,” select an account.
  4. Choose one of the following:
  • Sync now
  • Remove account
  • Choose apps to sync 

Other apps

If you'd like to remove access from third-party apps you've signed in to, you may need to take one of the following actions. Contact the app's developer for details.

  • Log out of the app
  • Deactivate the app for your Android TV
  • Uninstall the app from your Android TV
