Android apps and games

To find popular free Android apps and games, visit Top Free in Android Apps on Google Play.


You can find free books to add to your library by visiting the Top Free in Books chart on Google Play.

In addition to books made available by partners, you'll find many books available in the public domain that can be added to your library.

Book sample and previews

If you'd like to preview a book, many books offer free samples. When a book has an available preview, it will have a "Free sample" button on its detail page on Google Play.


  • When you subscribe to a magazine with a free trial, you'll receive the magazine’s current issue and new issues published within the free trial period.
  • All free trials are at least 14 days long.
  • When subscribing, you'll be asked to enter your credit card information, but will not be charged. You'll receive a Google Play receipt for $0.00. After the free trial period, your credit card will automatically be charged for the subscription.
  • If you cancel your subscription at any point during the free trial period, you will not be charged. You will retain access to content you received as part of the free trial.
  • You are entitled to one free trial period per magazine.
  • For some magazines, if you have an existing print subscription, you may be eligible for a free or discounted digital subscription.

Movies and TV shows

Movies aren't regularly offered for free. You can visit the movies section to Google Play find current promotions. Some TV shows are occasionally offered for free.


Select music is occasionally available for free on Google Play. You can visit the music section of Google Play to find current promotions.

Downloading free music, TV shows, and certain free books and magazines is still considered a transaction, even when the price of the item is $0.00. If you don't have a credit card associated with your Google Wallet account or if you haven't set up a Google Wallet account, you'll be prompted to add a new payment method upon downloading some types of content on Google Play.
