Accepted payment methods
You can purchase apps and digital content on Google Play using payment methods you've added to Google Wallet. If you don't have a Google Wallet account already, you'll be asked to create one when you make your first purchase.

You can add the following credit/debit cards to your Google Wallet:
- American Express
- Discover (US only)
- JCB (Japan and US only)
- Visa Electron (Outside the US only)
The types of cards accepted through Google Wallet may vary by location.
Note: You may notice temporary authorizations on your account when using a credit or debit card.
In the United States, you can use your Google Wallet Balance to pay for your purchase. Simply make sure there's enough money in your Wallet Balance to cover for the total amount of the purchase.
Some mobile devices and service plans can use carrier billing to make app and digital content purchases. Paid app purchases are billed to your mobile account after 15 minutes.Direct carrier billing availability

If you don't see a carrier billing option, here are some troubleshooting tips:
- Direct carrier billing is only available using the Google Play Store app. It isn't available on the Google Play website on a computer or mobile browser.
- Your account with your carrier must be in good standing.
- Check with your carrier to make sure:
- You haven't exceeded your carrier's monthly spending limit.
- Your device and service plan allow premium content purchases.
- Your device can use direct carrier billing.
Purchases that aren't successfully authorized with your carrier are immediately cancelled. For help with unsuccessful direct carrier billing purchases, contact your mobile service provider.
Google Play gift cards and promotional codes are available in select countries. Redeemed gift cards and some promotional codes appear on your account as part of your Google Play balance.
Note: Google Play balance can be used to pay for subscriptions on Google Play Music and Google Play Newsstand but can't be used to pay for other types of subscriptions. Learn more about Google Play balance uses & restrictions.
You can use PayPal to buy apps and digital content on Google Play in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United States, United Kingdom.
You can't use PayPal for purchases that use Google Wallet outside of the Play Store.
Google Play can't be used with:
- Wire transfers
- Bank transfers
- Western Union
- Money Gram
- Virtual Credit Cards (VCC)
- Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Transit cards
- Any escrow type of payment
