Credit or debit cards

You can add the following credit/debit cards to your account:

  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • Visa Electron
  • Rupay (One-time purchases only)

Note: The types of cards accepted through Google Play may vary. If your card doesn't work when you think it should, contact your bank or card issuer for help. You may notice temporary authorizations on your account when using a credit or debit card.

Due to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) card storage regulations, from October 1, 2022, Google can’t save customer card details such as card number, expiry date, etc. in the current format. With your authorization, we’ll save your card details in a format that complies with RBI regulations and keep your sensitive card details secure. Learn more about the changes to your card information or add or edit your payment method.

Mobile phone billing

With some mobile devices and service plans, you can charge purchases to your carrier bill.

Participating carriers in India:

  • Idea
  • Vodafone

When you buy something, you'll see the charge on your carrier account after 15 minutes.

Note: You may see an SMS (text message) starting with "DCB" or "DCB_Association" on your phone when you sign up for mobile phone billing. The message is automatically generated and sent to complete enrollment in mobile phone billing for your Google Play account.

Mobile phone billing troubleshooting

If you don't see a carrier billing option, keep in mind:

  • Mobile phone billing is only available using the Google Play Store app. It isn't available on the Google Play website on a computer or mobile browser.
  • Your account with your carrier must be in good standing.
  • If you use a device with dual SIM cards, make sure to put the right SIM card in slot 1 and leave slot 2 empty.
  • Mobile phone billing is not available on rooted devices.
  • Some mobile phone carriers can't be used to pay for subscriptions.

Check with your carrier to make sure:

  • You haven't exceeded your carrier's monthly spending limit.
  • Your device and service plan allow premium content purchases.
  • Your device can use mobile phone billing.

Cancelled purchases

Purchases that aren't successfully authorized with your carrier are immediately cancelled. For help with unsuccessful mobile phone billing purchases, contact your mobile service provider.

Unified Payments Interface (UPI)

Google Play supports UPI for all providers. You can use UPI to purchase subscriptions for apps that offer subscriptions.

You can make recurring payments with UPI Autopay (e.g monthly subscription payments for YouTube Premium, Google One and others) by creating a mandate. With this feature, you can set up the amount, frequency, or duration of automatic payments that won’t require your authentication every time.

eWallet

You can use one of the eWallets listed below to buy apps and digital content on Google Play. To use this service on Google Play, you need a registered account and enough balance with the eWallet.

Important:

In light of the Reserve Bank of India's press release on PayTM Payments bank Ltd, from March 15, 2024, the purchase experience with PayTM on Google Play will change as follows:

  • PayTM e-wallets can no longer be added as a new form of payment through Google Play.
  • If you already have an existing PayTM e-wallet in your Google account, you can continue to use it to buy apps and digital content through Google Play (including paying for subscription renewals) as long as there is sufficient balance on the e-wallet. However, PayTM e-wallets can no longer be used to purchase new subscriptions.

We recommend that you update your existing subscriptions that are paid with PayTM e-wallets with a backup payment method to avoid interruptions. Learn how to manage your payment methods.
