To help you get the best out of Google Play and explore different features, different types of promotions may be available to you. However, promotion availability or eligibility varies based on your account settings and activity. Your Play Store personalization settings may impact which promotions you see. Promotions are subject to any promotion-specific terms and Google Play Content Promotion Terms of Service.
Promotional codesYou may use promotional codes to redeem offers or discounts on Google Play. Play offers and discounts redeemed via promotional codes will expire if you don't redeem and use them before the expiration date.
To redeem promotional codes:
- Open the Google Play Store app .
- At the top right, tap the Profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions Redeem code.
- Enter the code.
Some promotions may require you to claim a reward immediately. While in other cases, they can be saved for later. To redeem later:
- Open the Google Play Store app .
- At the bottom, tap Offers.
- Find the promotion you want to save.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip: Make sure to redeem and use your offer or discount before it expires.
You can get discount coupons through Google Play promotions or with the exchange of Play Points.
All discount coupons:
- Are tied to a specific account.
- For example, if you have multiple Google Accounts on one device, you can't apply discounts to purchases by other accounts.
- Have a preset discount amount in a specific currency.
- Can only be applied to purchases made in the same country or region where the discount was redeemed.
- For example, a $5 USD discount coupon redeemed while in the US only applies to USD purchases made while in the US.
Fix problems with promotions on Google Play
You can redeem some Google Play promotional codes for credit. This credit is usually offered as either Play balance or offers for content. If you have trouble when you attempt to redeem a promotion:
- If you use a code, make sure you type it correctly.
- Do not use spaces or dashes.
- Make sure the promotion isn't expired.
- Make sure you use the same account to pay for the item as the one that received the promotion.
Tip: Some book vouchers have redemption limits and are processed in the order they're received.
Common problems with promotion redemptions
Entered the wrong code or an invalid code- Make sure you enter the code correctly.
- Do not use spaces or dashes.
- Check that you entered the correct letters.
- Verify that the code is a Google Play promotional code. Confirm with the company or developer that issued the promo code that it's a valid Play promotional code.
- Check if the code expired.
- To make sure the code hasn't expired, confirm with the company that issued the promo code.
Important: If you use a Google Account associated with an institution like work or school, some promotions might not work. For more information, contact your organization's technical staff.

- If you get a notification that "Your account isn't eligible for this offer," check that you're signed in to the correct account.
- Sign in to the account that was sent the promotional code. Then try to redeem the code again.
- If you have a contact email address that's different from your Google Account email, make sure you're signed in with your Google Account's email. Then try to redeem the code again.
The offer isn’t available for your account. If you’d like to continue with your purchase without the offer, remove the offer from your account and try to complete the purchase again.
Some promotions for apps must be redeemed in the app itself, not in Google Play.
- Open the Google Play Store app .
- Select the plan or item that the code is valid for.
- Before you pay, tap the payment method.
- Tap Redeem code.
- Enter your code.
- Complete the purchase.

Some codes can only be redeemed once. When you redeem it, the credit is added to your Google Play balance or the offer is added as a reward.
You can check if you redeemed your code in your account:
- To check credits added to your Play balance, go to payment methods. If the promotional credit appears, when you make a purchase, you can select your Play balance as your payment method.
- To check offers, go to the offers page. If the offer shows, when you make an eligible purchase, it'll automatically apply.
- Make sure you're signed in to the same account you used to redeem the code. Learn how to switch accounts.
- Check that friends and family members who may have access to the code didn't redeem it.
For privacy and security reasons, we can’t share any information about the Google Account where a promotional code is redeemed.
There are limits for the total value of your Google Play balance. You can't redeem a promotion if its value puts your balance over the limit for your country.
To redeem the promotion:
- Spend some of your Play balance.
- Wait for 24 hours.
- Try to redeem the code again.
To use a promotional code:
- You must be a resident of the country where the promotion is offered. Your payment method must be tied to your home country.
- You must physically be in the country or region.
- The country listed in your Google Play account must match the country where the promotional code is offered.
- If you're currently outside your country of residence, wait until you return home.
- If you recently moved to another country, you may need to change your Google Play country.
Make sure you’ve selected the correct promotion. In the cart:
- To find all saved promotions that can be applied to the order, tap the promotion.
- Select the promotion you want to apply.
Confirm you use the same account that received the promotion.
