The Google Pixel Watch Minute

Announcement
Hi everybody,

Since the launch of the Google Pixel Watch, we’ve been eagerly looking out for your feedback. We want to know what you love about it and, just as importantly, we want to answer any questions you might have so that you can get the most out of your Pixel Watch experience. Let’s go over some of our recent highlights and trending discussion topics in the world of Pixel Watch.

Community helpers
We’d like to shine a spotlight on Sam Gomm and John Haley for helping out Scott Lansing 3842 with how to download the latest software update for Pixel Watch. You’ve both saved other community members a lot of time with these useful tips!

Another comment that saved the day solved how to get custom turn by turn navigation on Pixel Watch for a run or bike ride. Happy trails to all the adventurers out there!

Recent announcements
  • We’re putting safety at the forefront with the addition of Fall detection, which can sense if you take a hard fall and contact emergency services if you aren’t able to move or respond to the prompt on your Pixel Watch within a given timeframe.*

  • The first update for the Pixel Watch app is available as of February 2023. If you haven’t updated already, make sure you get the latest version from the Google Play Store!

  • We’ve also rolled out monthly software updates in January, February, and March for all supported Pixel Watch devices.

*Fall detection is not available in all countries and is dependent upon network connectivity and other factors. Your watch may not be reliable for emergency communications. Fall detection may not detect all falls. To call emergency services on a Google Pixel Watch without 4G LTE, your paired phone needs to be nearby. See g.co/pixelwatch/personalsafety for more details.

Trending topics in the community
  • Fall detection in Germany:
Germany does not allow devices to automatically call emergency services. But watches purchased in Germany can use fall detection while visiting other supported countries.
    1. As an alternate safety measure, users in Germany can leverage Emergency SOS on Google Pixel Watch if they need help. This feature alerts emergency responders or trusted contacts when they’re in an emergency or feeling unsafe.

  • Can I connect a new phone to Pixel Watch without a factory reset?
No, you’ll need to factory reset your Pixel Watch to connect it to a new phone.

  • What’s going on with my notifications?
If your notifications aren’t working quite the way you expected, it might be a matter of adjusting your settings. For more info on how to customize your notifications, check out how to change settings, alarms, and notifications on Google Pixel Watch.

Love to see the spotlight on the community helpers! Also cool to learn what others have done to use the Pixel Watch as a photo trigger. This gives me ideas to try out some new things.

Fall detection in Germany:
Why not allowing German owners the option of automatically contacting a trusted contact after a fall and while being unconscious instead of just disabling the fall detection? Other devices already do this - why won't Google?? And this has nothing to do with legal restrictions in Germany... you could save lives with this improvement!!!

I already did... would be so great if more Germans would give this kind of feedback.

Ninedde The more feedback Google gets, the better chance it will get prioritized. But in the end, there might be other factors preventing the feature to be implemented at this time. All we can do is hope and you already did your part. Can't win a lottery if we don't buy a ticket right.

Any danger of fixing the ongoing GPS issues?

Please post up your concerns/findings on that thread to avoid duplications. We also aren't Google employees so we don't know any plans for fixing ongoing issues etc.

  1. When will SpO₂ come?
  2. Sometimes it's difficult to stop a workout – I have to swipe right quite a few times and tap the END button quite a few times.

1. No official announcement yet. We just need to wait and see for now.
2. Is this from the Fitbit app? Any chance it's due to sweat? Does it happen for all exercises? Try clearing cache and data of the Fitbit app on your watch.

In the future it would be best to create a separate post to ask your question, rather than ask it in the update post.

Is this from the Fitbit app?
Yes.

Any chance it's due to sweat?
No. Both the face of the watch and my finger were dry.

Does it happen for all exercises?
Only tested when running.

Try clearing cache and data of the Fitbit app on your watch.
I've tried this without luck.

P.S. And I felt vibration when tapping the END button, but it took effects after several taps. At a time, it took about 30 seconds to stop. This happens about 30 - 50% of the times. Some other users also reported this on Reddit.

I have to be honest, I've had the watch for 5 days now and have been hugely disappointed by it. For what it does and doesn't do I don't think it's worth the money it is. You can't check emails unless it just came in and you received a notification. You can only see your agenda, but can't add to it. You can't search the internet for something simple other than asking Google. I don't know why anyone would get the LTE version when to really do anything you still need to have you phone on you

Agree with your concerns. Please feel free to leave feedback with your thoughts and feature requests in the pixel watch app. That goes directly to the team to review. Open pixel watch app, scroll to the bottom, tips and support, feedback.

I really don't understand how the *Pixel 7* doesn't sync basic clock alarms to the *Pixel*watch. Why can other androids do this and not your own phone? Please Please please fix this!

Also, when getting group chats from third party apps (ex: Textra) on my watch, I'm only able to see the text and group name - not who it is specifically from. Is that something related to third party texting apps or something that could be considered?

Thanks! I'm a really huge pixel fan, but not having the alarms sync is a really big deal breaker for me and it's making me re-consider keeping it. Please keep us updated.

That is a popular request. If you already haven't, please leave feedback with your thoughts and feature requests in the pixel watch app. That goes directly to the team to review. Open pixel watch app, scroll to the bottom, tips and support, feedback.

The 3rd party app messenger issue needs to be relayed to the Textra or other messenger developers

The battery drains within a few hours.   I am on my third replacement.  And I had to go 15 rounds with the support team each time to process my warranty claim.  By comparison the other support team for the other Fitbit devices is far and way more organized.  I just hope google follows the footstep of the company they acquired and not their own when it comes to customer service for their wearable devices.
