Use Google Meet to make calls with your Pixel Tablet

Make calls with friends and family on your Pixel Tablet with Google Meet . Call your contacts or join a meeting in Hub Mode, or from anywhere in your home. During a call, use video effects and features like continuous framing, which keeps you focused and in the frame, or Clear Calling, which enhances your voice and reduces background noise.

Note: Some features are not available in all countries or languages.

Set up and manage contacts on Google Meet

Sync your contacts

Before you start a call, sync your contacts:

  • Invite your contacts to use the Google Meet app .
  • Start or join calls with contacts who use Google Meet.
Invite contacts to Google Meet

You can invite people who don't use Google Meet to join video calls and meetings.

  1. Open your device's Google Meet app .
  2. Tap New .
  3. Under "Invite to Meet calling", next to the contact, tap Invite and then Compose an invite.
  4. Tap an app or service and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Add contacts to your Home screen

If you call someone regularly, you can add their contact to your Home screen, then tap it to open the call screen.

  1. Open your device's Google Meet app .
  2. Tap New and then tap a contact and then More .
  3. Tap View contact and then More and then Add to Home screen.

Make a call on your Pixel Tablet

  1. Open your device's Google Meet app .
  2. Tap New and then under "Connect on Meet", tap a contact.
  3. Start a call or leave a message:
    • To make a video call, tap Call .
    • To make a voice call, tap Voice call .

Leave a message

  1. Open your device's Google Meet app .
  2. Tap New and then under "Connect on Meet", tap a contact.
  3. Tap Send Send and then tap the message you want to leave:
    • Voice: Record a voice message.
    • Photo: Take a photo and send it to your contact.
    • Video: Record a short video message.
    • Note: Type a note on the screen.
  4. When you're done, tap Send Send.

Answer a call on your Pixel Tablet

When someone calls you with Google Meet , you'll get a notification on your tablet's screen.

  • To answer the call, tap Answer.
  • To decline the call, tap Decline.

Start, share, or join a meeting on your Pixel Tablet

Start a meeting and invite people to it

  1. Open your device's Google Meet app .
  2. Tap New and then Create a new meeting Share link.
  3. Share and join the meeting.
    1. To share the meeting link, tap Share and then choose how to share it.
    2. To join the meeting, tap Join meeting Create New Meeting.
    3. Choose your options and then tap Join.

Note: Some personal information, like your name and email, are available to everyone in the meeting.

Join someone else's meeting

When someone sends you a meeting invite and you accept it, you'll get a notification on your device when the meeting starts. To join the meeting, tap the notification and follow the instructions.

If you leave a meeting by accident:

  1. Open your device's Google Meet app .
  2. Under "Meetings", find the meeting you want to rejoin.
  3. Next to the meeting, tap Rejoin.

Change meeting settings

  1. Open your device's Google Meet app .
  2. Tap Menu and then Settings and then Meeting settings.
  3. Tap a setting to toggle or change it.

Use video and background effects

  1. During a video call, tap More .
  2. Tap Effects and then tap the effect you want to use.
  3. Tap Close .

Reduce background noise with Clear Calling

Pixel Tablet Clear Calling reduces background noise and enhances your voice, making it easier for the other party to hear you on calls. It's automatically enabled for video calls on apps like Google Meet that use your Pixel Tablet's microphone. It's also supported for some third-party calling apps like Zoom and Skype.

  1. Open your device's Google Meet app .
  2. During a meeting or call, tap Menu and then Settings .
  3. Verify that Noise cancellation is turned on.
Use continuous framing

Continuous framing, also known as auto-frame, re-frames your video to keep you in focus and centered on the screen during a video call.

  1. During a video call, tap Continuous framing Auto frame to turn it on.
  2. To turn it off, tap the icon again.

Note: Continuous framing can only be applied when you aren't using background effects.

Enable automatic lighting adjustments

When video lighting adjustment is on, Google Meet can detect if you're underexposed and automatically enhance brightness to help improve your visibility during a video call. You'll get a prompt to turn this feature on if you're underexposed. To turn this feature on or off:

  1. During a video call, tap Menu and then Settings .
  2. Turn Adjust video for low light on or off.

Adjust ring volume

To control the volume of incoming Google Meet calls, adjust "Ring volume" in your device's sound settings.

Share your screen in a call or meeting

When you're in a call or meeting, you can share your entire screen or just a single app.

Share your screen when you're in a call

  1. During a call or meeting, tap More More and then Share screen Share screen.
  2. From the menu, choose an option:
    • A single app: Only the app you choose is shared.
    • Entire screen: Your entire screen is shared.
  3. If you select a single app, tap on an app to start presenting it.
  4. Your entire screen (or a single app) is shared with people in the meeting.

Stop sharing your screen

To stop sharing your screen, choose from the below options:

  • In the Meet app, tap Stop sharing.
  • Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Stop sharing or Leave the call.
  • Close the app you're sharing (if you're sharing a single app).
  • End the call or meeting.
