Change the volume on your Pixel Tablet or Charging Speaker Dock

The volume control button is located next to the power button on your tablet. If you want to change the volume on a Charging Speaker Dock, change your tablet's volume when it's docked.

Important: Some of these steps work only on Android 15 and up. Learn how to update your Android version.

Turn the volume up or down on your Pixel Tablet

  • In landscape mode (horizontal): Press on the right side of the volume button.
  • In portrait mode (vertical): Press on the top side of the volume button.

Important: If your tablet is docked, hold it firmly before you press either side of the volume button. This will ensure your tablet stays docked while you change the volume.

Change the volume on your Charging Speaker Dock

If your tablet is attached to a Charging Speaker Dock, change the volume on the tablet to increase or decrease the volume that comes out of the dock's speaker. You can also change the volume of media, calls, notifications, and alarms separately. Learn how.

Important: If you plug an accessory into your Pixel Tablet's USB-C port while it's docked, any audio playing from the dock's speaker is suspended.

Change the volume with your digital assistant from Google

Tip: To change the volume of your digital assistant’s voice, turn “Media volume” up or down in your Sound settings.
 

To set the volume to a specific level (1–10) or percent (1–100%) with voice commands, say "Hey Google" to activate your assistant, then speak a command:

  • Turn it up: Increases volume by 10%.
  • Turn it down: Decreases volume by 10%.
  • Volume 5: Sets volume to 50%.
  • Increase (or decrease) volume by [X] percent: Increases or decreases volume by [X] percent.
  • Maximize volume: Sets to the maximum volume.
  • Minimize volume: Sets to a low volume.

Change the volume of media, calls, notifications, and alarms

 To change the volume for other services on your tablet:

  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings app.
  2. Tap Sound.
  3. Slide the volume left or right to decrease or increase:
    • Media volume: Music, videos, games, and other media
    • Call volume: Volume of the other person during a call
    • Ring volume: Volume for calls, such as incoming Meet calls
    • Notification volume: Audio volume when you get notifications
    • Alarm volume: Alarms and timers you set on your tablet
Tip: To quickly access volume settings, press either side of the volume button. When the volume slider displays, tap MoreMore.

Other sound options

You can personalize your sounds in the Sound menu. For example:

  • Change the default sound for notifications and alarms
  • Turn the charging, docking, or touch sounds on and off
  • Turn on Live Caption to automatically caption speech
  • Identify songs playing nearby with Now Playing
  • Make the Charging Speaker Dock play all audio or just media audio
