Upgrade to Google One from Gmail, Drive, or Photos

With Google One:

  • You get more storage for Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.
  • You can call or chat with experts for answers to your Google related questions.
  • You receive extra benefits to get more out of Google.
  • You can share your membership with up to 5 family members.

What changes when you upgrade

You receive extra storage through your Google One membership. This storage becomes your new storage limit. You no longer buy storage through Google Drive. Learn how your existing storage works with Google One.

After you purchase storage

  • It can take up to 24 hours for the storage to be available. You can check your storage here.
  • If your storage is incorrect, to check if your payment went through, sign in to your Google Account.
  • If you bought storage through Photos, Gmail, or Drive, you must manage your account there. You can't make changes to your Google One account via the Google One app.

On your iPhone or iPad, you can upgrade to Google One from from Gmail, Drive, or Photos.

Buy storage in the Gmail app

Tip: Make sure your Google Gmail app is up to date. It may take a few minutes after you update for your purchase to open. Update your Google Gmail app.

To get Google One through Google Gmail:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Google Gmail .
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. At the top right, tap your profile picture.
  4. Tap Storage used and then Get storage.
  5. Select a storage plan.
  6. To complete the purchase, follow the instructions.

Buy storage from the Google Drive app

Tip: Make sure your Google Drive app is up to date. It may take a few minutes after you update for your purchase to appear. Update your Google Drive app.

To get Google One through Google Drive:
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Google Drive Drive.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. At the top, tap Menu Menu and then Storage.
  4. Under “View details,” tap Buy storage.
  5. Select a storage plan.
  6. To complete the purchase, follow the instructions.

Buy storage from the Google Photos app

Tip: Before you follow these steps, confirm you have backup turned on. Learn how to turn on Backup.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Photos app Photos.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. At the top, tap your Profile picture or Initial and then Account storage.
  4. Tap Get 100 GB+ of storage.
  5. Follow the instructions to complete your purchase.

Help with upgrade issues

Manage subscriptions not purchased on the App Store

If you use the Google One website or another device to sign up for a plan instead of the App Store:

  • You can't change your Google One plan on your iPhone or iPad.

Tip: If you purchased via the Google One website, you can manage your plan on the web at Google One.

  1. At the top right, select Settings Settings and then Change membership plan.
  2. Choose your new storage limit. You can choose a monthly or yearly subscription.

If you have Google One on an Android device, you can change your membership plan in Settings.

If you want to manage your membership with the app on iPhone or iPad, you must buy a plan with an Apple subscription.

Step 1: Cancel your Google One plan

On your computer:

  1. Go to Google One.
  2. At the top right, select Settings Settings and then Cancel membership.
  3. Select Cancel.

Step 2: Buy a Google One plan with an Apple subscription

On your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Download the Google One app from the App store.
  2. Open the Google One app Google One.
  3. On the left, tap Menu Menu and then Membership plans.
  4. Select a Google One plan.
  5. After you pick your plan, in the App Store, confirm your new subscription.

Tip: You can also manage your payment method or manage your subscriptions with Google Play.

You can link your Apple account to only one Google Account

To make changes to your Google One membership plan on your iPhone or iPad, you must make those changes in the Google app used to purchase the plan.
