Learn how recovery info helps you
A recovery phone number or email address helps you reset your password if:
- You forget your password.
- Someone else is using your account.
- You're locked out of your account for another reason.
Tip: If you change your recovery phone number or email, Google offers to send verification codes to your old recovery phone number or email address for seven days. If someone uses your account without your permission, this lets you quickly change your settings.
Set up account recovery options
Add a recovery email address- On your computer, go to your Google Account.
- On the left navigation panel, click Personal info.
- Under 'Contact info', click Email Recovery email.
- You might need to sign in.
- Follow the on-screen steps.

Get help with account recovery
