How dark web report works

With a Google One membership, you can set up a profile to monitor the dark web so you can learn if your info is found in breaches.

You can check for data on the dark web that might be associated with your email address or other info you add to your monitoring profile. Breach results may contain information including:

  • Your name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Email
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Username
  • Password

Tip: Only accounts with a US billing method can add a Social Security Number to their monitoring profile.

Any information found in the breach results will be displayed in redacted form to maintain data privacy.

With the results, you can review your information and make informed decisions about how to protect yourself.

You don't need a paid Google One membership to run a dark web report for the email address associated with your Google Account. Scan the dark web for your email address.

How Google One protects your privacy and keeps you in control

Keeping you safe online means protecting your information and respecting your privacy. That’s why in every product we make, we focus on keeping your information secure, handling it responsibly, and keeping you in control.
How the information in your monitoring profile is used
When you set up your monitoring profile in Google One, your profile information is used to see if a match has been found on the dark web. If any matching info is found, we’ll inform you by emails and/or notifications. You will also find relevant guidance on how to protect your personal information on Google One’s website and app.
Verifying your monitoring profile information
  • Some information you submit — like your email addresses, phone numbers, and SSN — will be verified before they are added to your monitoring profile. This verification process makes sure that we're monitoring the right information for you and that no one else can add it to their profile. Learn more about how Google handles this information.
  • Your phone number or email address is only added to your monitoring profile after you verify it’s yours with a one-time verification code sent to your number or address. Your Social Security Number is only added after the number is cross-checked and verified against other identity information you provide to us.
You control the information that you want monitored
You can delete info from your monitoring profile at any time, including your name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, and Social Security Number (SSN).
  • The email address that you use to sign in to Google One is included in your profile as part of the service. If you no longer want to monitor your email address, you can disable monitoring by deleting your profile in the dark web report settings.
  • If you add a phone number to your monitoring profile, it will show up in your Google Account as a phone number being used by Google One. You can delete your phone number directly from the monitoring profile.
  • If you disable monitoring by deleting your profile, your Social Security Number, along with your name and address provided during the verification process, will be removed from your payments profile unless you provided it for another Google service.
