Nest has discontinued support for Nest Secure. Your Nest Secure will no longer connect to Cloud services, therefore it will no longer work in the Google Nest app and won’t connect to the internet.
What this means for you:

Support for Nest Secure has ended. You can no longer use the Nest app to check the status of your Nest Secure, control your Nest Secure devices, or receive notifications from your alarm system.

We do not recommend using Nest Secure going forward. Nest Secure will no longer receive software or security updates, so you may experience an unpredictable degradation in performance if you attempt to continue using it (for example, in offline mode).

If you previously used a Nest Guard to connect your Nest x Yale lock to Wi-Fi, you will need to take action to reconnect your lock.

If you had a cellular backup service, it will be proactively canceled.

Eligible Nest Secure users have been emailed with instructions on how to redeem an offer to make the transition away from Nest Secure easier.

Keep your Nest x Yale Lock connected to Wi-Fi
You can no longer use Nest Guard as a bridge to connect your Nest x Yale Lock to Wi-Fi. Only a Nest Connect can connect your lock to Wi-Fi. If your lock goes offline, you won't be able to operate your lock with the Nest app, but you can still operate it with the keypad.
If you previously used Nest Guard as a bridge to connect your Nest x Yale Lock to Wi-Fi, you must replace your Nest Guard with a Nest Connect. Eligible owners received an email in January 2024 with instructions on how to receive a Nest Connect at no cost. Once you have a Nest Connect, you can reconnect your lock. If you currently own a Nest Connect, you may need to move it closer to your Nest x Yale Lock to connect it to Wi-Fi. If your lock goes offline, you won't be able to operate your lock with the Nest app, but you can still use the keypad.

Cellular backup service discontinued
We have discontinued support for cellular backup service. If you have a cellular backup service subscription, it will be cancelled by May 20, 2024.
