CBD Products
I fully understand CBD products are not allowed on Google Shopping feed or Adwords.
But can I put CBD products on my website but not market them via Google ad words or Shopping feed?
Or will simply having the products for sale on my website, (but not promoted in AdWords or google shopping) put my account at risk?
Thank you for your answers,
RC

Hi,
Since this thread is getting too many "this is confusing" comments and other wrongly given advice (since removed), I will happily break it all down in a different way.
Policy is King.
Regardless of any unique business desires by advertisers... the policies governing Google Ads is quite clear. Playing with policy will lead to being banned from using Google Ads. Proceed with caution!
Unapproved pharmaceuticals and supplementsThis page lists examples of pharmaceuticals and supplements that Google Ads doesn't allow. For more information about this policy, please see our policy page on healthcare and medicines. Cannabidiol (CBD)
This means that any webpage connected to a landing page URL used with Google Ads cannot have the words Cannabidiol or CBD anywhere on it... and still use Google Ads. The ads will first be disapproved and then the entire account audited for reason to suspend the entire account. This covers eCommerce, info sites, and anything else online that is connected to any Google Ads account.
Why do some people see ads actively running for this regulated product?
The most likely reason would be the well known limited tests that Google runs with select advertisers to further study something. There is no way to be request to be involved and no way to bypass policy.
The best course of action is to always follow policy, no matter what, to preserve the use of Google Ads for another business down the road. A suspension will follow someone for life.
This stinks. What can I do now?
Flip of the coin.... this help community is not here to debate the dislike of a policy or submit feedback or rouse others to an unhappy state. File a complaint, shout about it to your local or national news outlets, take out billboard signs along a busy highway and tell the world how unfair Google Ads is acting regarding CBD, cigarettes, rolling papers, pipes and the hundreds of other items they will not allow to be advertised with their platform.
But... but... Hey, we cannot do anything here in this help community. Debating it is a moot point. Want to affect change? Open your Google Ads account, click on the ? in the upper right hand corner and click on Feedback... and send in your thoughts & feelings every single day!
All the Best,
James

Well.... I don't see in the email that Google said it was OK.
>>"As per the Google policy we do not promote CBD oil, "
Since Google crawls the whole site, you cannot have CBD oil on any page, regardless if this is the landing page or not;

System checks complete website, you can't promote other products through Google Ads having CBD products listed on website.

Had to correct my post as I was in violation of the content policy...
My original reply:
OK, hold up. I don't think people understand your question.
You only want to know if you can have "CBD" on your website. You don't plan to run Google Ads or Shopping.
If this is the case, then yes you can put whatever words you want to on your website. Organically there are no restrictions (other than the requirements to gate the site from minors).
You mention "Putting your account at risk" there is no account for organic SEO.
Now if you have other products that are not CBD on your site that you are planning to advertise on Google then you will not be able to do this without getting your account suspended.
Simply put:
Google Ads with CBD anywhere on site = Account suspension
No Google Ads with CBD anywhere on site = No account and no risk of suspension (SEO only)
-------------------------
To clarify:
I work for an agency in the Cannabis space. I have direct experience running CBD products with Google Ads. The account was live for 4 days and then was suspended. I deleted the account because you can not use Google Advertising platforms for CBD. You also cannot advertise anything non-CBD on a website that has CBD products on it.
If you Google "hemp for sale" you will see another option for Google Ads, since Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally-occurring constituent of industrial hemp (cannabis sativa) plants.
Additionally, I am optimizing the website with CBD products to rank organically. If you do a Google search for "cbd for sale" you will see many sites that sell CBD products. SEO for CBD is allowed.
Our solution was to create two websites, one focused on "hemp" and the other focused on "CBD"
Bottom line:
If there are CBD products anywhere on your website, and other products that are not CBD on the same website you cannot use Google Ads to advertise anything on that website. Take off the CBD products before running Google Ads.
Best of luck

I would be very happy to know why are they stopping this while there are huge companies that are selling their products freely in the market and even being traded in wall street.
This is 100% by design, since larger and more established venues would have the means to create "hemp" campaigns and get some 'spillage' of sales into CBD. As an lone entrepreneur in the CBD field - this makes it harder for me to reap the fruit of a young and growing sector, yet easily farmed by larger and more established firms.
I'll reiterate and summerize hoping someone from Google would even care: This specific confusing rule gives a very clear advantage for larger companies over entrepreneurs/small business'.

so far, there are no such related updates from google.
for shopping-ads, the system does not check all items,
for all possible policy related issues, all the time.

generally, only a sample or example of items may be flagged,
to help locate a root-cause, to help prevent a more serious
suspension, at any time -- there may be many many more items
that are violating the same similar policies, but have not been
flagged yet.

marijuana and cannabidiol products are recognized to be different, under
separate policy categories -- dangerous-products and unapproved-substances.
