Asset types for App campaigns

Assets are what make your App campaign ads shine and help ensure that your ads are effective. There are five types of assets that you can use for your App campaign ads. Learn about App campaigns and how to create an App campaign.

Headlines

Add up to 5 headlines using 30 characters or less for each.

Descriptions

Add up to 5 descriptions using 90 characters or less for each.

Videos

  • Videos must be hosted on YouTube.
  • Orientation can be landscape, portrait, or square.
  • If you don’t have videos to add, Google Ads may make a video ad for you using assets from your campaigns and your app store listing.

Images

  • Upload images as .jpg or .png with a maximum size of 5MB:

HTML5

Before you create an App campaign, consider the following tips for creating your HTML5 assets:

  • Currently accepted attributes for HTML5:
    • Orientation tags (your assets will appear as full screen ads on the majority of devices)

  • To validate your HTML5 assets before uploading, run your .ZIP file through the Google Ads HTML5 Validator tool.
  • Upload your asset as a .ZIP file with a maximum size of 5MB and no more than 512 files within the .ZIP.
  • You can upload up to 20 .ZIP files for each ad group.
  • UTF-8 must be used for non-ASCII characters.
  • The HTML5 asset should have a responsive design because it will render in a range of full-screen display sizes.
  • Sound and video are now supported for HTML5 ads for App campaigns.
