In your manager account, you can easily change managers for accounts in your hierarchy.
This article shows you how to move a directly linked client account to another sub-manager account within your account hierarchy.
How it works
After you move an account to a sub-manager account, that new sub-manager account's data and totals will be updated to reflect the addition of the new client account.
Note that accounts and manager accounts you manage with API-only access cannot be moved to a new manager account through this process. If you need to move either of these account types, contact us and we can assist you.
How changing managers affects billing
Important: If you move a client account that’s on consolidated billing from one manager account to another, it does not change the client account’s billing settings. After you move the account, the new manager account won’t have access to the account budget. All active and pending budgets will remain valid and the account's ads will continue to serve and be billed to the original manager account.
If you no longer want your manager account to be billed for the account you’re planning to move, make sure that all budgets are ended for that client account before you move it. Keep in mind that the budget has to be ended from within the client account. If you move accounts before doing this, you won’t have permission to edit billing for the client account and will need to call Google directly to request assistance from Google support staff.
How changing managers affects conversion tracking
If you move a client account that was using your cross-account conversion tracking tag, but that account still falls within your account structure even after being moved, the cross-account conversion tracking tag will still work for the client account.
Change managers for your accounts
- Sign in to your Google Ads manager account.
- From the page menu on the left, click Settings, then click Sub-account settings along the top.
- Check the box next to the accounts you want to change managers for.
- Click Edit and select Change manager from the drop-down.
- Select a new manager for the account. You can also search for the new manager at the top.
