How location tracking works with your Google Fit data

Google Fit can collect your device location data when you’re physically active, to help calculate distance and create a map of your activity in the Google Fit Journal. You can turn location tracking on or off in Google Fit at any time.

How activity maps tracking works
On your iOS device, Google Fit uses the Apple Health location data from active workouts to create maps of your activity and to give you more context about your activity.
How we protect your data
When you use Google Fit on your iOS device, location data is saved on your device.
You're in control
When you set up Google Fit on your device, you can choose whether Fit can access your device's location data through the Apple Health app. Location data will be available to the Fit app if you have agreed to track your activity with the Health app.
Important: If you don't want Google Fit to have access to your device's location data, change the permissions in the Apple Health app.
