Transfer your Google Voice number
Remember to unlock your Google Voice number. After that, you won’t need to enter any account info; we’ll take care of that automatically.
- If your Google Voice number is linked to the Google Account you’re using with Project Fi: Once you have your Project Fi phone, follow the setup steps to start your transfer.
- If your Google Voice number is not linked to the Google Account you’re using with Project Fi: You’ll need to unlock your Google Voice number (one-time $3 fee may apply) or transfer it to the account you’re using with Fi, as long as you don’t have a Google Voice number on that account.
How long does the transfer take?
You’ll start the transfer once you activate service on your phone. Transfers from Google Voice can take up to 24 hours. In the meantime, you can still use your original phone and number for calls and texts. Calls to your Google Voice number will continue to be forwarded.
If your transfer is taking longer than 24 hours, contact a Project Fi expert.
If you can’t transfer your Google Voice number
