Transfer ownership of a class

This page is for teachers. This feature is not available to students.

If you’re changing the classes you teach or leaving the school, you can transfer a class you own to a co-teacher in the class. If the co-teacher accepts the transfer, they become the primary teacher of the class, and you’ll be the co-teacher of that class.

The new primary teacher will become the owner of the class Drive folder, the materials in the class templates folder, and turned-in student work. Deleted items in these folders are not transferred. If you are in a G Suite for Education domain and your admin restores deleted items, those items will still belong to the original teacher. The new primary teacher can also delete the course.

If you have a G Suite for Education account, you can only transfer to a co-teacher in your domain. If you’re using Classroom with a personal Google Account, you can only transfer ownership to a co-teacher with a personal Google Account.
