Set up notifications

This page is for teachers. Students go here.

As a teacher in Classroom, you can set up notifications for certain activities. You can also customize how you receive notifications on your mobile device. You can get a notification whenever: 

  • A student submits work a second time, after it’s been returned from a teacher.
  • A student sends you a private note.
  • A student submits work after the due date.
  • A teacher invites you to teach a course as an additional teacher.
  • Someone comments on your post.
  • Someone mentions you in a post or comment.

By default, notifications are enabled. If you have any unread notifications, you’ll see a red circle on the app Menu Menu.

Customize notifications

  1. Tap Classroom Classroom.
  2. In the top-left corner, tap Menu Menu.

  3. Scroll down and tap Settings.

  4. (Optional) To turn off email notifications, tap Turn off Turn off.
  5. (Optional) To have your device vibrate when you receive a notification, tap Vibration.
  6. (Optional) To have your device make a sound when you receive a notification, tap Sound.
  7. (Optional) To turn off all device notifications, at Device notifications, tap Turn off Turn off.

View notifications

  1. Tap Classroom Classroom.
  2. Tap Menu Menuand then Notifications.

    The number in the red circle indicates the number of unread notifications.

    Tap Notifications

  3. (Optional) To only see unread notifications, tap Unread.
