Fonts looks bad, almost unreadable, running Google Earth 6 on Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 21 Recommended Answer
You can see a screenshot of it here:
sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
I had to logout and log back in even after the font cache was updated...probably something with the new Compiz/Unity UI.
Tried to set with qtconfig the fonts, but keep the same result.
Version 6.2 uses modified Qt, which is incompatible with system libraries. Forcing it to use system Qt libs will end up with symbol lookup error: ./libmoduleframework.so: undefined symbol: _Z34QBasicAtomicInt_fetchAndAddOrderedPVii
So, search the web for google earth 22.214.171.12401 package -- this one is latest for this moment.
Also, I'd recommend adding line export LC_NUMERIC=C after export LD_PRELOAD=libfreeimage.so.3, that will prevent KML files corruption on some locales.
