What happened to my Google Docs folders?

I spent hours loading thousands of documents.... Now it all seems to be jumbled up, no rhyme or reason to anything...  Where are my folders??????!!!!!!!

All is not lost, I suspect. (1) You can revert to the previous listing format (Older version, top right). (2) In the new listing format, click on All in the left column.

Yes, agree with the "no warning" part. For those of us who are heavy users of Google documents, some notice/communications might have been very helpful.

Where can I revert to previous format with Folders? I don't see what is being referred to above. "All Items" lets me view everything...However, I don't see how I can create any new Folders, or undo weird Collections actions. Am I stuck with the old Folders I already created? Do I need to go back to Microsoft Office so I can organize docs under new topics? Huh?

Also, can anyone explain why the "Folders" concept appears to have been deep sixed? To save money? Because there was a patent/trademark issue? Meantime, I'll search around for an explanation of "Collections"

<<Why isn't there folders in the new UI?>> They are now called collections. Change of name, change of interface, no structural change [1].
