Hi Henry,

Your inquiry isn't clear. We will need more information.

Specifically, we would need to know what you mean by:
A) New people
B) Visitor
C) Join

If someone you added to a Google Slides presentation with the intention of setting them as a visitor ended up being an editor, it could be due to a few reasons:
  1. Incorrect Permissions Setting: It's possible that while adding the person to the slides, you might have selected the wrong permission level. Visitor access is more restrictive than editor access, so you need to make sure that you explicitly set them as a visitor when sharing the presentation.
  2. Previous Sharing Settings: If the person had previously been given editing access to the presentation, the system might retain those permissions unless explicitly changed. Make sure to check the current sharing settings and adjust them as needed.
To resolve this issue, you can do the following:
  1. Open the Google Slides presentation.
  2. Click the "Share" button in the top-right corner.
  3. Find the person's email address in the list of people who have access to the presentation.
  4. Click on their name/email address.
  5. In the "Access" section, make sure they are set as a "Visitor" and not an "Editor."
  6. If they were set as an "Editor" previously, click "Change" and adjust their access to "Visitor."
  7. Click "Send" or "Save" to update the settings.
This should correct their access level to visitor. If the issue persists, consider removing them from the sharing settings and then re-adding them with the correct per

I believe you mean viewer as visitor is not a sharing option.

The only way a viewer could become an editor would be:
A) another editor on the file changed their access
B) a shareable link, was created to give anyone with the link edit access

To change this user’s access, open the slide file, then click the share button in the top, right. You will see the user’s name in the list of collaborators. You can then change their access from editor to viewer. Also, under general access, ensure that link sharing is either restricted, or if anyone with the link was chosen that the access is set to viewer.

Within the same sharing dialog box, you will see a Settings icon. If you click on the sprocket, you will see a setting that restricts editors from changing collaborators access as well as prevents them from adding new collaborators.
