I downloaded Google drive on my  HP Pavilion gb 1b50us notebook Windows 7 Home premium  can't save a document from Google drive to my USB thumb drive.

Hi Ella,

See if the attached help reference helps.  Depending upon your browser and settings, it may prompt you for Open/Save and location to save.  If it saves to a default location, you may need to manually move the files to your thumb drive.

Where does it go when it is downloaded?  I can't make it go to the flash drive.  It did download somewhere on my computer, but where?????

Unless you've set any other default location, it goes to a folder called Downloads. You can move or copy from there to the regular My Documents folder or your flash drive.
