How to remove the header in Google Docs?

The header and footer take up a lot of space for me, I can't seem to get rid of it no mater what.

Exactly! I need as much space as possible to save printer paper, but it seems like there is no way to remove the header and footer. The easiest solution I found is to export your document to a word document and set border / margin of the page.

From the File-page setup make the margins smaller and make sure you have deleted the content of the header and footer.
